    2014 MasterCraft X30 with GEN2 or 2014 Nautique 230 with NSS ??? Please Help!!!

    2014 Nautique 230 with NSS or Mastercraft 2014 X30 with GEN2???
Please Help! I don't want to "join the dark side"...
I have to decide to follow through on my 2014 X30 with GEN2 surf tabs or buy a 2014 Nautique Super Air 230 with NSS.
Has anyone seen in person and better yet surfed behind both systems? I am primarily looking for the best surf wave that you can adjust to have it all, length, steep, lots of push.
Nautique tower over the ZFT4 tower ? Does the ZFT4 tower rattle and shake like the older towers on say a MC 2008 X14 direct drive?
I like the MC X30 for design, fit & finish, sexy style, and storage.
I like the Nautique because my 2008 SANTE 230 was such a reliable tank on the water, I am a huge Nautique fan, but I'm disappointed on the reduced storage/redesign of new 230 interior.
BUT, what is behind the boat is extremely important for the family that wakesurfs, wakeboards, skis (a little), and has one little "professional tuber" LOL...
I can't believe the 2014 nautique 230 doesn't have a ski pylon / pole, only a hook low on the transom...
Any insight that can help me make the right choice is appreciated.
Do not limit replies to only surf wave info, please include any other benefits of one over the other.
Thanks and I do realize this is a Nautique board so I expect a little bias.
Asking because boats don't demo well on our frozen lakes...

I am one of the biggest fans of NSS. I've ridden the 230 without NSS and with (same boat but ran for a bit without NSS). The versatility that NSS offers in the way that you can shape the wave for any style riding is the best on the market in my opinion and from what I've experienced. I was also a little bummed about the interior change but I'm more concerned with what's behind the boat.

Just look at the resale figures no other brand holds their value better than Nautique. You said you had flawless operation with your 08 . Have you been to the MC forum and checked the history and numerous issues MC has had over the last 5 years? What makes you think they got it right this time? Have you looked into the G21? It has more storage and makes better wakes than either the X30 or 230. I would never spend 100k plus without even a test drive?

Thanks for the reply. I want a 23 foot boat and the g23 requires me to buy a new lift. Plus one must cap his budget at some point. The g21 and g23 are both more than I want to spend and what I have negotiated on the X30 and the 230.
What are some of the issues MC has had? Research I have done has proved to be quite positive since 2012 and the Ilmor reviews have been good too specifically.
        I appreciate the help.

I went to Only inboards the asking price of the 2012 X30 ranges from 74900 to 82500. The asking price for a 2012 230 is 75800 to 97900.

My question would be: do people actually shop for 2008 X30's?

MC wake is created by trim tabs? I'm on a lake DOMINATED by MC and every X-30 I see the driver is standing trying to see.

They also had to get a CG waiver for the fuel system delivery and if they tested and checked each design thoroughly they could have skipped the chime locking no steering pro star year.

I was raised on Master Craft and went way out of my way to go Nautique

I had the same dilemma. Coming from a Nautique 216V I really wanted to stay with Nautique. I was behind a '13 X30 last summer and had a pretty good surf wake. It also had a really good ski wake as I still ski and one of my boys skis so that was important. I then demo'd the '14 230 and was not overly impressed with the surf wake as it seemed to lack push. But it was Fall in Alberta and I took a couple of quick runs. My son skied and the wake was comparable to my 216V but not as nice as the 30. I really like Nautique's but went with the X30 for the interior, storage and wake. Oh Yea and my wife said I could order whatever options if it was the X30 and you know what they say about happy wife!

gen 2 tabs are not nearly as functional as nss. they have nowhere near the ability the change wave characteristics as nss.

Did you go with a 5.7 or 6.0 litre power plant and why? If you went 5.7 is it enough or does it rev too high when loaded with bodies and ballast?
Do you have the Gen2 tabs?
Does the tower rattle and shake?
Does that cool wind door rattle when used to block wind?

                            Thanks.
Comments I have received are that NSS is either in position one or five as positions 2-4 make little difference.
Also the setting up and use/programming of the nautique screen is not as user friendly as the 7" top end MC screen system.
In my opinion the NSS system is much cleaner looking off the back of the boat but have also come to think once you have devices under the platform how they perform is more important than how they look.
Sounds like you have surfed behind both the 14 230 and the 14 x30 with gen2.... Therefore I appreciate your feedback.

I take delivery in April. I went with the 6.0 and it does have the Gen2 tabs. The one I was in did not have a single rattle, was really solid . We didn't close the door but when open it did not make a noise.
