Greetings Nautique community,
I am looking to purchase my first inboard, and something that will be a good starter boat. With my budget, I will likely be looking at something in the late 80's to mid 90's. I plan to use the boat as a general purpose boat; ski/WB/cruise/etc. With those things said I thought I would reach out to the community to make sure I ask the right questions when searching and buying a used boat of that age.
I guess in general I just want to ask informed questions and such that this is a starter boat for me, I would hate to buy a lemon and/or money pit (so to speak).
Any insights would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

- Are there big differences between model years ranging from 88-94 to note; I realize there is a difference between years/models, but how those affect various items. ie hull designs and wake characteristics, engine type, performance and reliability, etc.
- What mechanical questions would be wise to ask when looking? More specifically, engine/impeller/stringer/hull issues that are common?
- Any gelcoat issues or questions to raise.
- What models are considered best all around boat? Like I said not necessarily looking for a exclusive wakeboard boat, but something that is good for everything.
