Ordering new boat questions

Ok looking into ordering a 230 or g21 as my dealer only has 2 g23 that are out of budget and 2 210 that only have the 343 in them.

As I am fairly mechanical I am thinking about doing some of the options I want myself to save a little budget. My questions are 1. If I plan on adding my own tower speakers is Nautique's tower prep kit worth it or just as easy to run my own wires and amp etc. 2.If I want to add a function that is controlled by linc such as the heat etc are the relays and all there and just need tapped into or would my only option be to add more manual switches? 3. is the zero off link upgrade just a add on module that could be done after the fact or is that a one time thing that should be ordered with the boat?

Any of the functions controlled by the LINC system will require a software change done by the dealer. It is a fairly simple procedure. For example, if you add a heater yourself and want to be able to control it through the LINC, just wire it in appropriately and swing by your dealer and ask them to activate that option in LINC.

I dont know about numbers 2,3,4 but when it comes to running wires through the tower it isnt worth a 1k plus option.


Just order a crapton of speaker wire, get some string and a vacuum. This is valuable time with your new boat.


If you dont have a garage and its on a lift or something, just have the factory do it.

thank you looks like good answers so far. I don't have a garage but I am located in FL so its not like its too cold for me to get out and work on it.Looks like there is only one more question left to be answered

Also if anyone has any other recommendations for me to make this a good buy I am all ears.

I am almost positive that the tower comes pre-wired regardless of ordering the tower prep kit or not. Pretty sure the tower prep kit just gets you a very overpriced amp. If it doesn't come wired it is not too hard to do like Brichter14 said.

Yeah if e tower is already prewired you are paying over a grand for a polk 5000.5 amp. Check ebay for that one lol.



If i was to order a boat from the factory i would buy it totally stock blank canvas but with the best engine i could afford.


Then i would post a bunch of crap on the forums of what i should add to it and then post pics of the install process. I have fun with stuff like that.

Ok, couple thoughts on your G21 spec sheet:

colors: recommend you pick and only go with one of those blues. Reef and masters will detract slightly on resale. With both, that's 4 colors on your boat.

409: minimal upgrade performance wise for the cost. If 350 isn't enough for you, go 450. 409 will only outperform the 350 in 4000+ RPMs. 450 will be great in the G21.

bow filler and arms rests def not required, drive up the price, just FYI.

I would love the 450 but it's another almost double the cost of the 409 and my big draw for upgrading from the 343 is closed loop cooling.

so the dealer verified that they can add zero off there at the shop. I wonder if I could just buy the antenna or what ever on my own and then just have them activate it in the software.

Dump the Z5 cargo Bimini or the tower down cover. Removing and storing the Z5 is a two man job. It will have to be removed every time if you plan to store with tower down cover, which I'm assuming. Go with the regular Bimini that can be handled by yourself save that money

I would also skip the carpet.....save some money there as well. I know for a fact 2014 230's have wire in the tower whether you order the prep kit or not. Can't say on the G21 though.
