I would order (if you can) without the stereo or at least whatever is the minimum as standard. Then build your system from there. I could honestly eliminate my head unit as I never use it and with a line driver like the WS-420 and a MP3 device you don't need one unless you want AM/FM Satelite radio. I can honestly say that the factory head unit can and often does cause more issues down the road when upgrading components due to the factory wiring harness/ ground aspects.

Tower comes pre-wired no matter what. The prep-kit gets you an amp and a "shock-type thing" to help put the tower up and down easier.

BTW - 343 engine is plenty of power for the 210 unless you want top-end speed 45+. I have the 343 in mine with 3k of ballast and I have never wanted for more power.

Ha! we were talking about this on Sat. I "Can" take it down by myself but it isn't fun or easy and if I had to do it every time out I would eventually end up damaging something. If I was going to tow with the tower down and cover on every time there is no way I would order the Z5 and I love using mine. If I had to take it down to put the boat away every time I would definitely think twice about ordering it.

We have 2 larger surf boards that we wouldn't have room for without the Z5 and the ability to throw an extra board or 2 up there comes in handy even with a modest crew and it comes in very handy as a sturdy hand hold often so I would probably get one, just not if tower down is important.

I really like the z5 top and never end the day or have to stow the boat by myself.

Ha! Coincidence??? I think not! But hey not everyone is nearly 7 ft tall and can simply remove a Z5 alone. Tell ya what, ill give you a monster energy drink just to watch you attempt that (no homo)

I'm gonna vote for the 409/G21 setup if the $$ is lining up about the same. I have a 230-390 (ZR6 '08) and this engine is stronger than what is being depicted here from people comparing specs from dyno tests which are extrapolated from somewhere...PCM does not publish this info. As you have noted, CC wanted about +$6k to go from 409=>450hp which is steep and is more of a high RPM addition as well. With the new transmission and prop, you're going to be very close to the peak hp range for the 409/450 engine when accelerating out of the hole...
FWIW, 409 and new '14 2:1 reduction transmission makes this engine viable for the G21, and I have heard 2nd hand that the 409 is even ok now on the G23 (stock ballast)...For a reality check, look @ what Jeff has ordered in his '14 G23...

I love our 230 for how we use it, but, the boat for low speed wakeboarding is tricky to clean up the wake for the little kids and beginners (empty boat, 1 pass + driver), I need 18mph to get a clean wake. Any more crew, and stuff the speed goes up. Again if the $$ lines up about the same between the G21 & 230, G21 wins to me for the awesome wakeboarding wake (based on riding behind a stock G23 setup), surf wake will be good on both (230 needs pro ballast & NSS) and you get the latest technology/hull with just a little smaller cockpit than a 230...
