    SV211 Questions

Planning to replace my recently sold 03 Sky Supreme 220 SP which was purchased to be used for slalom, boarding and entry level surfing. While it was great for boarding and ok for surfing with factory ballast + sacs, I expected a 90" DD to have a great slalom wake but it was much worse than any boat I've ever owned including my SeaRay 190

After much research I'm leaning towards either an 05+ SV211 or 07+ VTX Diamond Hull mainly for 2 reasons:

    1) Garage: my garage has two standard width 7ft high single doors, so I believe the VTX 8'2" beam plus trailer would be extremely tight widthwise (less than 1 inch clearance on each side). The SV211 7'9" beam plus trailer should fit much better. I have 28 ft length so that isn't an issue. Does anyone know the total overall width of an SV211 trailer with guideposts off (I realize trailers may vary)?

    2) Slalom wake: from the research I've done, both boats appear to have decent recreational slalom wakes
    VTX slalom wake: http://www.themalibucrew.com/forums/...-vtx-20-wakes/

    SV211 slalom wake: http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/m...tml?1126725631

It's very difficult to tell from these pics and if I had to guess I suspect the VTX may have a slightly better slalom wake. Would love to hear from anyone who has ski'd behind both boats? I've read a lot of conflicting information regarding skiability of the SV211. We are intermediate rec skiers who prefer around 28-30mph at 15 off. I read that one SV211 owner went splits with a buddy on a 2nd real ski boat after crashing a couple times.

Of course there are other pros and cons... VTX has more room, higher freeboard, but I love the walk through transom on the SV211 (people walking on the upholstry drives me insane), and the SV211's seem easier to find and were out a couple years earlier which means less expensive. My other option is to buy a surf boat and ski only behind relatives ski boats. Problem is 98% of the good surf boats won't fit through the garage door, so I'd probably be limited to something like an X2 or 210. So... the SV211 seems to be the best fit. Any suggestions to help overcome confusion would be much appreciated

the 211 is the best 6-7 person all-around boat. Period. There isn't anything out there I'd trade for. That being said, you need to ski it if that's a concern. It is NOT a DD ski wake, and classified as such "class C". It works great for me and compared to other V-drives is good. I've heard good things about the VTX ski wake as long as you get the diamond hull. But I wouldn't trade my Nautique for a Bu. If money is not an issue, the new Sport 200 skis equivalent to any DD short of a 200 DD.

All that being said, you need to try it yourself. Only you can determine if it's good enough. And if you're interested, a nice 211 just went up for sale here.

Thanks! There's 4 in my family, but we often boat with other family's of 4 or 5 which means 8-9, so size is a consideration. I have an invite to ski behind a VTX Diamond hull this spring and hoping to find a 211 somewhere near southern Alberta. I would estimate there's at least 6 Malibu's to every Nautique in our neck of the woods, so this could be a challenge! Seems like east is Nautique and west is Malibu country.

I'd still appreciate some info on SV211 trailer overall width. Looks like the VTX overall trailer width is approx 103 inches including tires: (http://www.themalibucrew.com/forums/...l-my-boat-fit/) which would leave me less than an inch clearance on each side. My experience is you can't always go by the boat beam. For example my 2001 SeaRay 190 had an 8'5" beam and just fit my garage. 2000 Crownline 182 LPX had an 8' beam but the trailer wouldn't fit through the door.
