    G23 Boat lift

Bought a new G23 and in the market for a new boat lift. Is a 6000lb lift enough or should I get a 7000lb just to be safe?

I would go 7000. If you have a lot of gear in the boat and full of fuel it will be getting pretty close to the 6000 mark. The 5400 is rated dry. My boat is the exact same weight as the lift capacity so I am slightly over. Mine is a manual lift and it's a two person job or a break and a beer then go back again. I am sure you will be going electric or something of the sort but it will be less stress on the operating pieces in the long run and probably less service work.

Mine was on a 6600lb hydrohoist front mount. With a full tank of fuel, if I stepped onto the platform to board it, it would start to sink a bit. I would go 7k or 6600lb side mount hydrohoist

I have a 8,000 lbs Hewitt hydraulic lift. It is great. Can lift the boat, fuel, gear and a full crew.

I up graded my electric lift when i got the G23 went to two motors, and switch out cables , it is now rated over 12000 ,I did this because we keep 1000pounds of lead in at all time , and some times wait till we back to the lift to dump ballast , its also tilted back a little (lift) which helps to empty 100 % of ballast which is good for winter

Always a good idea to have a little extra capacity. When we upgraded to our 210, I had a 4K Shoreline. The boat dry weighs 3800 so I was at the limit with fuel and gear. During high winds or excessive boat traffic, the lift would sink down putting the bottom of the boat in the water. Caused a lot of worry so I sold it and up graded to a 5K lift HH. Have had it three years now, and even it has dropped down a couple of times during extreme winds. My dock is exposed to the north and can get blasted, so I now wished I had gone to a 6K. You never worry about too much lift, but since our lake house is over an hour away I can worry plenty about not enough.

Just like building a garage. You are going to build it to store more than just your boat haha.

Always go heavier. I love the hydraulic lifts - no cables, very clean install.

Floe VSD 7500 24Volt. Go with a 27 or 28' canopy with extensions. You'll never regret it!!

Hewitt 8000 24v for my g23. Quick and clean. Nothing to climb over to board the boat.

I had a a hydraulic sunstream 6000 pound lift and it wouldnt lift my G. I have the 8000 pounder now and it lifts it no problem.

Boat. House lift or ground lift? My 6k boat house lift works great. Keep it greased. Center pulls require far less amps than double motor lifts. Also, make sure pilings are good if you have decent water depth. If you are using a ground lift, ignore this post ; ).
