The wakes are generally so big on the G boats when ballasted... you'd learn your lesson pretty quick turning back over on your own rollers like that anyhow, it'd knock your fillings loose slamming against your own rollers while they are so close and so big.

I actually spent a couple of day with and in the boat that you are looking at last year and at one point had 12 people in the boat with a full ballast and it took a few extra seconds to plane off with me behind it. When I dropped the amount of people to 5 and had full ballast it had ZERO issues.
That's a great boat, good luck in your decision

I loved my 2013 with the 450. I got a great trade in on my 14 so I stepped up to the 550. The 550 is a beast of a motor!!2016 G23 H6
2014 G23 550
2013 G23 450 (Great boat)
2008 230 Team-ZR6- ACME 1235 ( back in a Nautique again)
2005 Malibu LSV 23 wakesetter (Real Dumb Mistake)
2000 SAN ( Loved that boat)
1998 Air Nautique ( our first boat)

I also had a G23 450 last year and traded in for a 2014 550. Could not pass on trade in offer.
I put the ACME 2419 prop on the 450 G23 and it made a huge difference in hole shot and time to plane. I was able to surf with OEM ballast plus 2000lbs or so more. Time to plane for wakeboarding was way better as well. It was like a whole new engine. If you go with 2013 450 G23 and are going to add extra ballast or have a lot of people in the boat I would recommend the ACME 2419.

I drove and rode the originally propped 450 and the 550 before purchasing. Huge difference in hole shot, turns with full ballast and rpm when running at riding speed with full ballast. I went with the 550. I have a hard time believing there is only 100hp difference between the two engines. I would just say that if you are putting 100K plus into a boat, don't run the risk of feeling underpowered for the life of your ownership. I am old enough to have had 8 powerboats and not once have I felt I had too much engine.

We have a lake home where the water is protected from the south wind, so lots of people ski/surf this area in the summer. I'm amazed or shocked to see an early bird powerturn this area into an ocean. Then I can be just as amazed to watch a knowledgeable boater use this same area and have glass water each pass.
