226 Is it a good family boat?

I am looking at a 2005 226 TE without the perfect pass and a little over 200 hrs. I have 4 kids age 6 and under. My wife was not raised around boats so I want to break her in easily. This boat is in the low 30's for cost but I have not seen it yet.
Is this a good starter family boat for wakeboarding, surfing and possibly tubing and teaching young kids to ski (but very little)?
    Is this a good price?

    Thanks,

Yes it would be a good family boat. The prices sounds reasonable if the boat is in good condition. If your wife was not raised around boats and you ever want to ride; buy and install perfect pass.

+1 on the Perfect Pass. My wife never wanted to drive until we got it. Now she can pull me wakeboarding or even slalom. It makes life so much better.

The 226 should be a great family boat. Bigger than the 211 I have, walkthru which will be nice for the kids, and can comfortably seat 8, so you can bring another family along.

Should be a great boat, and the price sounds decent if it is in good condition.

      Good luck!

I read where it would seat up to 12 but I figured 12 adults would be very crowded. My kids are ages 6,5,4 and 2 so there would be room for their friends or another family. I want to start early before soccer, baseball and all the other sports take too much time to enjoy a boat. (Will be limiting their sports so we are not going crazy.)

Wagging the boat to the ballpark is a great way to pick up new friends for the lake!

if you're not an experienced rider then you're good to go. Great all-around family boat and since you're starting at 6 and will probably invite others, a good size. FYI: as far as teaching the wife keep mind parking an inboard is about as hard as it gets at the dock. It's doable but will require some patience on your part.

What is YOUR experience around boats? What you came from will help tailor the answers.

I had a Malibu in my single days in the late 90's. That is how I knew my wife was the one when I would be less aggressive with tricks on the wakeboard because I did not want to be sore for our date going country dancing (we are in Texas). Had another boat while in high school.
I like to wakeboard but will surf more due to age (43) but the kids will wakeboard and tube with possible learning to ski but would lean more towards wakeboarding.

good info! Welcome to the Nautique family. As long as you're not expecting much out of a ski wake and aren't too critical of the wakeboard wake then you should be happy. I love my 211 walk-thru because the kids are continuously back and forth and it keeps them off the vinyl. It's a great general all around boat and the 226 is the big brother.

I thought this might be one to consider. My dream boat is the G23 but that will have to wait. I figured this could be a good starter boat for the family if I pull the trigger and won't lose much value if I decide to trade up in 2-3 years. Will have to give this one some thought.

Our first v drive was a 226 from Buxton in Dallas. Great family boat and pretty dang solid surf wake. We loved it! We did exactly what your talking about. Traded up in a year. I think Buxton has one for sell up there. It's a great cheaper way to get in the wake boats.
