I switched from SkiSafe to BoatUS a few years ago for one reason. Pricing was similar but BoatUS has no layup period. I would use the boat occasionally when it was supposed to be "laid up". Whether it was in March or October. I don't have to worry about March this year.

Been with Ski Safe for many years now. this year went with out the lay up and paid a little extra to put my boat in the water one time! going to go ahead and get the lay up next year. Also paid for the hurricane coverage, We figured if I have to tow it out of the path of a hurricane it was going to cost far more than the coverage. Bang for the Buck I am sticking with Ski Safe especially since I have to carry big coverage due to tournament use. Also I have never had a Claim so my rates continue to be very good, far less then if I started with another company.

I have been with Voyager Marine out of Dallas for several years now. For a while, it was underwritten by Progressive and the price was pretty good. I inquired about a different underwriter after reading several horror stories about Progressive's claims practices on this site and they switched it to ACE USA, a company I had used previously. The price dropped a good deal for the same coverage. I have an agreed value policy for boat, motor, and trailer with all of the other goodies and no layup period. I have had on other policies and I pay less than $200 per year. No claims yet, but they have been extremely responsive and helpful any time I have had a question.

Ok, you can get off the floor now....
Maybe they also lowered your coverage and didn't ask/tell you about it.

That's what they did to me.
