Fill when warming up and idling out to where we start our run, If not full finish filling with engine off.

Start emptying as we circle to pick up rider from last run of the day. Shut engine off for rider to get in and let it pump out while rider gets every thing stowed. If its late will drain while heading back to the dock, when its close to empty shut engine off to listen to the pumps so they don't run dry for to long.

The only time the boat is on is if we are going somewhere. Sometimes I fill/empty while we are going from point A to B.

I think the deal is amp draw with pumps running. I thought that a red somewhere where it said to run pumps while at 1500 or more rpm. Could have dreamt it!!

Typically fill/drain with engine off. Engine is only on when going from point A to point B and back.

We often fill/drain on the way from/to the dock to/from the riding spot at 20-23 mph if someone hasn't already started the process while waiting for me to park the trailer. Other times we forget and start the fill right as the first rider gets up to start getting ready, with 2 batteries I don't care if its with the engine on or off. If I am changing between riders I start the change just as soon as the rider signals they are done and continue right on through the rider switch with the boat off and its usually done by the time the second rider is starting their pull if not I let it finish while they are riding.

Dear Jon, I'm sorry for running up the hours on your boat. It's a bad habit I will need to break on the Byerly.

Ha! I don't worry about it either way, especially when its cold out we leave it running for the heater/shower. My point was that on or off isn't particularly relevant and it runs fine at speed as well.
