Just a quick note to our members about Wake Tex, also known as Lee Williams. His ID on this site was TXNautique210 (now banned).

I want to caution all of you about doing business with him. I know of several people who have had extremely poor experiences with him. Some have purchased boats that arrive in way worse condition than described, others have had him try to sell them boats that he didn't even own.

I have banned him from this site, since his actions clearly violate the site terms of use, but please be aware that he may be trying to sell boats in an unethical way, and may not be a person that you want to do business with.

Dallas. I ran into him last summer on a boat. I kind of called him out on it and he came out apologetic on this site and via email/text with me. I see his stuff on CL frequently. I think he tries to feed of Buxton's overflow.

This is the wife of wi54545. I thought I'd add our recent experience with him. I hope others that have dealt with him will post as well.

We recently (within the last two weeks) purchased a boat from TXNautique210. We were beyond pleased with our experience. As a matter of fact, through all of our years in boating we have NEVER seen a dealer or any other seller go above and beyond the way Lee did. He was very open with us on how he acquired his boats when we asked. He was in constant contact throughout all parts of the process (txts (pictures), videos of the boat running and walkarounds, emails, and phone calls). He immediately called us when our check for the boat was overnight-ed to him by accident rather than us. (We had stressed to our lender that we wanted control of the check.)

When we found the boat on CL, we were on spring break/vacation and not able to immediately look at it. My Husband spoke to Lee and would not sell us the boat without my husband seeing it. He quickly agreed to hold it until we could a few days later. When we arrived back home and flew in from out of state, he picked my husband up from the airport, took him out for a spin on the boat and then dropped him back off at a hotel. Last week, the boat arrived in the same condition as when we purchased it. Apart from the 5" of snow we got last night, it's happily sitting in our garage waiting for its debut.

I might also add that we had a tire blow on the trailer on the way up (thanks to Illinois DOT) and Lee offered to split the cost. All around a great experience.

That's great that you had a positive experience and got a great boat! That's always great to hear.

It doesn't change the situation here though. This person was clearly violating this site's terms of use by selling ANYTHING here as a business. He may not have done that with you, but he was doing it. I also want to do what I can to protect our members. When I hear multiple complaints about a particular business, I think it is relevant to pass that information along to our members.

Thanks, Jeff. I appreciate your efforts which make PN a great forum. I am a member of a travel forum (not trip advisor, BTW), and when a question gets asked about info on rental places or boat charters, a lot of times you'll then see about 6 or 8 other members pounce on them trying to sell them something, rather than make a recommendation based on their experience. . .it gets old after a while.

I called Lee about this and he said it was a mistake on his part, lesson learned because he did violate the terms and Jeff had every right to ban him, it's just he got a little aggressive because he is a dealer and has a passion and appreciation for nautiques and is proud about the brand and enjoys seeing his customers happy with a quality boat. However for every 1000 buyers you will never get 100% satisfaction every time, especially if you are dealing only in used boats there is no way to know everything that could possibly go wrong. Even new boats are having more problems from the factory than they did years ago. If I had one buyer have a bad experience, I would hope that my entire reputation would not be publicly viewed as bad when 99% are very happy. He apologized for his mistake.

And the hole gets deeper... Apparently I slandered him earlier up. I just got a PM on CCFan entitled "Let me be clear"

"First off you have never ran into me on a boat you emailed me kicking tires and I have not in any way apologized to you for any thing I have done because I have done nothing wrong and I don't know who you think you are to feel like I owe you anything! I dont feed off the Buxtons over flow I have sold 21 Nautiques this year and none were from the Buxtons (until 3 I bought at one time last week). Bottom line is I dont know what your problem is, but I do know I dont deal in 80's model nautiques so I dont know why you have any reason to ever talk about me or my business. By the way we have owned a nautique since the day I was born get off your high horse and stop bashing someone who sells the boats because he loves them."

Just to be clear to the rest of you as to not offend Lee, my intent was never to slander. I only stated what was true to the extent I was told last summer about Buxton's overflow. Lee told me he often got boats from Buxton. Admittedly, I was a tire kicker... The boat was too high for what I was willing to pay. Hate to kick up settled dust, but apparently this PM is the caliber of what we are dealing with.

Not at all surprised. Also, let me be clear. I did not base my post on what one person said. I had a number of complaints about Lee, and that is what prompted me to post what I did. I first started hearing bad things about him months ago, but I didn't say anything here until additional people also had issues.

He broke the rules of the forum - great, he's banned.

Having this thread for the public to see every time a search is made on the internet is very poor taste in my opinion. I would not hesitate to do business with Lee, have heard nothing but good things!

Every business is going to end up having unhappy customers. That's life. It's impossible to make some people happy. Sounds like he has many more satisfied customers than unsatisfied customers. The problem these days is that very few happy customers come forward to share their good business experience. But the first thing people do when they have a bad experience is go on the internet and berate the company they had the bad deal with. Just one more reason small business owners are getting squeezed out of the big picture.

I agree, and we only get to hear one side of the story. If he is breaking the rules of the site, so be it, ban him. But banning because people have had a bad experience with his business is somewhat Bush League. Then to allow people to bash him in this thread with no defense is not good business on PN's part.

I don't have a dog in the fight, I buy my boats from Buxton, but know if I was a small business owner trying to make a living I would want my side of the story told if I was getting ran through the ringer on the most reputable site online that deals with my product.
