Need advice on new Nautique G21 or 210

    Hola all,
I currently have a 2007 220 5.7 330 engine for mainly WAKEBOARDING (no riding no surfing). I usually need full factory ballast plus 1000lb between people & extra ballast with 1235 propeller.

I live in Europe so main targets are to minimize consumption (1,4 Euros per liter= $ 7,25 per Gallon)and to improve/match my current wake

I am considering the following options for my new my wakeboarding boat (surfing will be marginal):

    1. 2014 210 with 343 engine. the question with the 210 is to calculate the ballast needed to match/improve my 220´s wake and to choose the engine that will minimize consumption. do you think 210´s wake can be bigger/better than my 220´s?
    2. 2014 210 with 409 engine.
    3. G21 (I will never use more than factory ballast) so which engine?
    4. other option you may suggest
    Thanks,

I'm not sure about the 220 wake but have heard and read it's not well known for a great wake. With that said I run my 08 210 with the 343 motor and load it about 2800lbs total ballast. I run a 1235 prop and she works fine. I run about 7miles on my wakeboard sets on the river and burn 3.5gals of fuel per set usually. That's with about 5-6 falls on average.

If it were me and money wasn't an object I'd go for the g-21 all day long!!! Prob with the 450 motor.

I can't speak about the 220 as I've never been in or around one, but solely looking at the difference in weight between the 210 and G21 I can tell you the 210 will be more economical on fuel without extra ballast. Between the dry weight and ballast alone you're looking at an extra 2,000#s for the G21, then the extra 200 or so #s for the extra fuel capacity. So for arguments sake we'll say 2,200#s extra that will directly relate to fuel consumption no matter what engine you have.

With the factory added ballast sacs Nautique offers in the 210 now you can have up to 1,750#s of factory ballast. What kind of wake that will produce compared to your 220 I can't say as I haven't had the chance to ride a 2014 210 yet. I would venture to say that wake will be adequate for most riders, but even if you do add more weight to it I don't think it would ever be 2,200#s extra.

Another thing to think about is if you are towing said boats to the water. The G boats are large for a 1/2 ton truck to pull. It can be done, but depending on your driving conditions a larger truck might be needed which means extra cost as well. The extra weight of the G21 towing will directly relate to added fuel costs as well. Of course if you don't trailer then this aspect is null.

Either way you look at it I think the 210 will always be more fuel efficient over the G-series boats... Plus the extra money you save buying the 210 over the G21 can be put towards fuel!

        210 - 343hp
        G21 - 409hp

You will go through more gas with the G21, but the wake size and consistancy will be worth it.
