Does anyone use the dehumidifier fans for your boats? If so, how well do they work and are they worth it?

Have not used a dehumidifier fan. However, I have used
both silica crystals (can get them at home depot) and
a low wattage light. Both are fairly effective. I've had only
minimal mildew under the cover.

When we kept a boat at the coast, we used a heater specifically made for that purpose.
No moving parts, well protected, very low output. You need to keep in mind that whatever you put in there will not be monitored
constantly and could cause a fire.
The one we used is similar to THIS but it had no fan. That one looks nice but it's almost twice what ours cost,
and the one we had kept a cabin ona 25' boat mildew free in the water at the coast.
Ta-Da! One almost identical to what we used is THIS but the price is stupid. Although the one at West is a better deal, KISS is the rule for unattended operation
The Goldenrod dehumidifiers work well also.
