I wonder if he was talking about this one: http://www.planetnautique.com/vb3/sh...Sport-Nautique

Either way the Super Sport didn't come out til the 95 model year. But that 94 Sport has the same basic hull as the Super Sport/Super Air and will put out an incredible wake with some ballast.

I'm loving this thread. Please keep swinging or swinging in blog-worlds (yes worlds).

I love the wake in the video. Ben will agree it looks like the perfect footing wake. Nice table, smoooooth curl.

I'm not much of a wakeboarder - I stand behind the boat (believe it of not). Oh did I mention I have a wakeboard boat. We took a 91 BFN with 454 CB in on trade one time. We used the heck out of it that summer. I think we had people WB behind it.

I think someone said, $ vs WB fun. Might be OK, but I would agree there are better WB 1996-2006 SAN might be a better fit.

Also we did have an EXCEL with a 351 on the docks. It struggle to come out of the hole with weight. I think we re-proped it and made it better, but still I didn't like the hole shot.

Crad, agreed, definitely a great footing wake, and one of the best for the time of any inboard. The combination of the deep-V and the strakes on the bottom are what create the curl and nice table. It is very similar to the wake on my old '87 BFN which was a DD but the table is very similar.

No doubt the WB wake is better as well as the surf wake on a 95-06 SS/SAN but the OP was only asking if the 10K price was good for the Excel as described. The truth is, you'd be hard pressed to find a 95-06 SS/SAN anywhere near the OP's assumed price range unless it had major problems. It's real easy recommending that someone spend more money on something "better". Heck, why don't we all recommend a used G series to anyone asking about used boats every time they're looking for advice about a good boarding/surfing boat? Of course that would be ridiculous. It all depends on how much you want to spend. IMO, the OP is smart to look at these under-valued/relatively unknown boats for a first boat. I'm sure he wouldn't lose any money on it and he'll sure have fun while he's at it. As a side note; direct drives suck if you have more than two friends that want to ride with you. Once you put any ballast in them, your floor space totally evaporates-not to mention the lack of storage of any kind...

Mark I bought my '97 Supersport for $13k 2 years ago. It only needed wet sanding, buff, and decals which I did myself. Had new interior and was mechanically sound and a FCT2 tower. Deals are out there you just have to be patient and persistent.
