    Bimini help

    Hi guys,
I am ordering a new G21 and I have been shocked by the price of the biminis: 3.2k for standard and 4.5k for Z5
I know that is not a lot when you are buying a +100k boat, but in my case I just need a shade device.
I am sure that the complexity and quality of components justifies the cost, but I feel like paying one thousand dollars for a microwave oven when at the end I am just warming up my coffee.
Moreover, that´s a lot if you compare to the price of NSS (2,6K).

Are you aware of AM biminis (over the tower) that could make the basic job at a reasonable cost?
I have already checked towerbiminis.com but they have not developed it yet.

I don't think you are going to find a solid aftermarket item this soon. My suggestion is to put your negotiation hat on. No one is going to lose a $100k+ deal for 3.2k. Tell them to throw it in or drastically reduce it, otherwise you walk.

I think sometimes we forget that these boats are just an item, not an object of lust and desire, and in the process buy right into what these high end wakeboat manufacturers dream of. People willing to part with their 3.2k for some aluminum and canvas that probably has a hard cost of 300-500. The margin on these things has to be ASTRONOMICAL. I know we were buying these boats in 2000 for mid 50's has material, inflation, labor, and r&d costs really risen by 200% in 14 years?!

Long story even longer ... just tell them you want the boat. But they have to drop the Bimini by 2k. Imho the "if you have to ask you can't afford it" attitude that sometimes gets applied to these boats has run its course. Some of the most wealthy people in this world remain the most frugal. Maybe if we all started fighting them some more on options like $3200 bimini's we could get the market corrected back to where it should be. Sorry for the long soapbox there.

      Jose-

I thought the same thing when I bought my first G.

Trust me you and everyone else wants that regular OEM bimini... 30 seconds to deploy and 30 seconds to put away. Its built like a **** brick house, and provides exceptional shade. Its truly a quality item.

I know folks are considering and pursuing other biminis to save money... I think that'd be a mistake and I am a penny pincher myself.
