My neighbor is selling an early 90's Correct Craft called a Nautique Excel. Does anybody know anything in regards to this model? All I know is it's out of production, but it's Correct Craft so it's still gotta be good, right?

I'm sure you'll get some firsthand answers from folks on this site
who own or who have owned excels.
In the meantime, if you go to the site correctcraftfan.com, and click
on the "Reference" section, you will see sales brochures for various
years. I believe the excel began in 1991 and continued for 3 or
4 years.

I sold Nautiques for a couple years. The Excel is only good if it has a 454. The 351 does not have the power needed. Also that boat is only good for Barefooting and ok for boarding.Comment

time to Excel!!
Yeah, that was me!! We had a sweet SAN 210 until our best friends moved away and we lost the coin toss!! (We miss the friends more than the boat of course!) Did you get our e-mailed pictures of the boat and also of the brochure? The boat has been set up for wakeboarding and if we could board behind the 4-cylinder, 120 HP, 1972 Seaswhirl a.k.a."Tomohawk" or "The un-official tow boat of the X-Games" or "Old School" we can wakeboard behind anything, don't ya think? The V-drive will help weight down the boat and throw us a decent wake. We know you secretly miss the "Babeliner" in all it's hot pink & teal glory. Tiff had fun chatting with Lydia. I own a '93 Nautique Excell/Barefoot Nautique and I love it! It has a 351 in it and I barefoot every week behind it. No, it's not a SAN TE but neither was the price. I love Nautiques, but all of us can't afford $50,000 - plus for a new one. Yellow_Flash_Colorz: I think it has a fairly good wake for wakeboarding, especially if you throw a couple of fat-sacks in the rear, and some weight up front. My son had one and was pleased with it until he had enough coins to go up to a '02 SAN. It's a great family boat ,too (not all of us are Pro Wakeboarders). Thanks for the input! We co-owned our last Nautique (2000 SAN) and loved it. You're absolutely right.... we're not pro-wakeboarders but a growing family who loves the quality of Correct Craft and wanted an affordable V-drive.Comment

I've boarded behind a Excel (with 454) a couple of times and was nicely supriced by it's wake! In my believe it's bigger and firmer then a SkiNautique 2001 wake! Of course a SAN is still the master, but I really liked the Excel and as I remind correctly they didn't used weight in the boat, only 10 or so people!230 with ZR6 running on propane

I've owned an 91' Excel for seven years. It has the 351, and I would have to disagree with comment needing 454. Properly tuned the boat runs 50+ MPH. I've had five big guys deep water start barefooting several times. It pulls my 200 lbs. 43 MPH with no problem. Wakeboarding is great, however slalom wake requires 34-36MPH to make it forgiving. It also has one of the best rough water rides out there. Local dealer just sold one for $21,000 as many people are looking for them as a reasonable alternative. Hope this helps.Comment
