      Blue is always nice...

This was custotomized and done locally. It's a snap cover w/ the snaps under the rubrail, oppose to on the ends, so they are less visible. It is 100% waterproof. The tension is even throughout the boat, and I've never seen a better cover.

Mine uses hooks opposed to snaps, works awesome!

Any kind of snap cover is going to be a "custom" cover. CC's covers aren't that great anyways... Just ask White Lake who they have do their covers, or call a reputable upholsterer.

I don't want to be mean but I just wanted to say that I think it's these types of covers that you should stay away from. I've never had any personal experience with one, but I've heard some nasty stories of how the straps break, fly off your boat on the highway, rup up against gelcoat and trailer paint, and just dont give a nice seal to the boat... Sorry if the owner of this boat reads this... :| Your boat deserves a better cover!

Actually I don't have any straps really. I don't know where you got the idea that my cover has magical straps everywhere.... The clips work much better then snaps in my opinion because even if they came loose they are soft Velcro not metal snaps... Furthermore my dealership has had one instance where they had to add one more set of clips. This apparently was because he always liked to tow his boat behind his RV at about 90mph...

Furthermore it fits nice and taunt and requires no other framework. The straps that do hook to the back of the trailer has nice padding around everything.

Snaps work great, but so the clips work equally as well...

(PS: my cover was custom made too...)

Oh, sorry, I think I misread your post Abundigga. That last post wasn't meant as an attacking or vindictive post, it was more so a defensive post because I thought you were talking about my cover.

I have snap on my cover and they hold the cover on really well but when the cover was made they used the wrong kind of snaps on the boat as they did not think about things rubbing up against them when the boat is moored, I have lost 3 in total with a lot more loose, I wish it was just a case of putting new ones in from where they have pulled out but when they do they take a nice chunk of gel coat with them. I will try and get some picks this weekend.

                  All,

I have a tie down cover. Have towed with it w/o any problems. Solution...if you spend $700 or more on a cover............spend the money on the tie downs. Now I have to admit my tie downs are custom. Bought the large bungee (1/2 inch) and som tygone tubing and a few of the seat belt protectors.....and of course some plastic hooks from good old McMaster Carr (I should buy stock).

Each location is a custom length to pull the cover tight and straight. Bungees are inside tygon tubing where in contact with the boat...to protect the bungee (sharp corners) and in one place where I pass under the trailer. If I put the cover on this week (going to Noris) will send pics.

                  Works like a champ.

NOW when it is on the water, I hang 250 ml poly bottles with lead shot on the cover to hold it down. Works great also. Will be on the lake this week...if I put the water cover on will send pics

To answer your question...nearly every CC cover is custom made because apparently the CC factory covers are not very good. My custom cover was included in the original purchase of the boat...the dealer got it made for me somewhere, but I'm not exactly sure where. (Some place in Arkansas I think). Nearly all the snaps are in the rub rail, NOT in the gel-coat, so you don't have to worry too much about it messing up the fiberglass. I really like my cover...it was pretty expensive - somewhere in the $800 - $1000 range, but definitely worth it. You should talk to your dealer - he can probably suggest a good custom cover shop. If not, you can call Thomas Marine in Checotah, OK - they should be able to tell you where they got mine, or get one for you.

To answer your 2nd question - I also have the brushed aluminum tower. I have the Nautique Skylon Defcon III's on the tower and Skylon Mini light bar (7-lights). They are both done in chrome (or brushed aluminum) to match the tower. I think it looks great - all that chrome up there is very eye catching.

This has been discussed before, see this thread:
                      http://www.planetnautique.com/index....ighlight=cover

You don't see too many snaps on California boats, just like you don't see car dealer's logos on car trunk lids in California, I think it's a California thing. I cannot even imagine drilling holes and installing staps in my boat! My cover is at the end of the thread, it's snug enought not to move without snaps, straps, clips, or weights. It has loops on the underside bottom to tie to the trailer when trailering, buy I typically don't tow it covered.

Mikeski- Interseting phenomenon, isn't it? I, like you couldn't imaging drilling to install snaps, nor do I tow with the cover on. You can always tell when a car is from out of state when you see the dealership logo on the trunk lid..........

Really! I hate those logos. I always tell the dealer not to put them on when I buy a car, but they usually do anyway. I also change the licence plate frame if that is personalized too.

                            You belong in California...

Now if we could just convince Nautique to leave off those darn lifting rings...

That is why I love my hidden lifting ring that pulls up when needed, and drops flush the rest of the time.
