    Steering /"nimbleness"

Nautiquers, after spending 30 or so hours with my new g23, I'm wondering if the steering I'm feeling is normal. We do a lot of all kinds of water activity, surf, wakeboard, tube and ski. When pulling kids tubing I'll put it on back to dock and it is really hard to make left hand turns - nothing crazy, around 15-18mph, but I really have to heave it over. Just surprised it's not a bit more nimble. I know it's a heavy boat....

Secondly, boat seems very sensitive to weigh distribution for wake shape when boarding -overly so in my opinion. Any insights?

Really love the boat, exactly what we wanted, just want to make sure I'm not messing it up myself.

Thanks for any insights for a nautique rookie.

Around 15mph the boat is really just reaching planeing speed so it would drive as responsive as, let's say, 23mph. I have trouble with the wakeboard weighting too so that is nothing to worry about. From what you described everything sounds normal.

when you say put on back to dock, hard to make left turns, is the wheel hard to turn , or the boat hard to turn?? as for weight sensitive its the least of all the boat i have owned, very easy to a just I have lead plates to use if you dont want to move people around.

Cool. The wheel is hard to turn, tons of effort to cut all the way over left.

And my experience is very limited on wake weighting.....

If hard to turn wheel , would suggest some type of restriction. the hard left,, only when back to dock mode?? no other times in any other modes or speeds??

Yes the left turns will always be harder since you are going against the prop wash so that is completely normal, just turn to the right and all is good. Yes this boat is VERY weight sensitive at wakeboard speeds. I just adjust the Port ballast to compensate as its usually the Starboard side thats too heavy for me. Yeah yeah just drop some weight on the driver I know LOL!

if you look up member nyryan he has some great setup advice with lots of detail. He does add additional weight to his setup and I don't. I just go with factory settings though on surf I will have the "boat meat" cheat to the surf side but not much. I'm 215lbs and the factory wave has plenty of push for me. IMO the board you choose is the bigger issue. You'll need a beginner board (read; large subtle design) for the people you want to teach or learn on. As you get better you can get more aggressive board designs but your form has to good to ride some more advanced boards. Try to surf (and wakeboard) in deeper water as it WILL affect wave height. In short, just get out and ride, try some different settings and just see what you like! Have fun!

I got out tubing for the first time today. That G23 is a beast to turn left with. I have a 5 man hot dog type of tube, and going fast makes it no fun, so 17 MPH turns are in my future a lot. Makes me think I got to spend some more time in the gym.

My other boats have not been like this. They have prop wash too, even if it isn't from a 17 inch propeller. Just wanted to bring the thread up again to be sure I should just accept and deal with it. .

I had similar issue and the boat also had a tendency to turn right, moved the rudder adjustment fin a bit to the right and helped a bunch. Also found that the issue presents much more when going from hard right turn into a hard left turn. Try smooth and hard left from straight and see if you have better luck.

Forgot to mention, prop wash during acceleration makes big difference as well, don't accelerate until finishing left turn and heading back toward right
