Anyone use a HangTyte or Simular Device on a boat cover? What is your opinion?

I am ordering a new boat cover from Angola Canvas Shop, and I am trying to decide the best way to prop the cover up to make the rain run off.

Has anyone used a HangTyte or a similar device? Is there more than one brand?

    What is your opinion?

What are the pros/cons of these devices?

Does it only work for puddle prevention behind the windshield? What is the effect in front of the windshield?

Are the poles better or worst?

I made this one myself, cost me about 6.00

I used a stainless steel eye bolt, and a marine grade pulley with a 1" nylon webbing strap and buckle around the tower.
    Just another option for you.

I use a HangTyte. Never any puddling behind the windshield... rarely have any puddling in front of the windshield. Easy to install.

Have poles too.... never use em.

Awesome accessory. My old original cover on my 2001 Air Nautique still gets puddles at the rear but it's much better with the HT

Hey guys....pardon my ignorance on this subject, but can someone point me in the right direction for a good/cheap boat cover for a g23. We have it under a canopy and it is sheltered from most of the elements, but I want to get a cover this season. When we ordered the boat, they said we could either buy the nautique cover with the poles for over $1k, or they had another option to install buttons on the side of the hull so we could use a cover with snaps. Did not really want to install the snaps and the poles looked like a pain the rear. I saw the thread on the hangtyte last year, and that looked like a good option....just need to find the right cover.

                Thanks for any help!!

Love the Hangtyte thanks to the thread Clibka posted. It has worked great with no major pooling. I had an awning place reinforce the cover with some sewn in rubber where I cut the hole for the Hangtyte.

Nice work! I'd love to see a clearer picture of your setup if you get a chance. Tough to tell what you did from that picture.

Here's a pic of my setup. Picked up a couple vents on eBay for cheap, then drilled a small hole in each for the braided line. I looped the line down into each one and tied a knot below a stainless washer to give more holding power. Then used a couple ratchets on the back two positions which pulls the front one tight also. Up top is just a loop to go over the tow point. My pole setup would still cause some pooling in the back which is why I went with two connection points. Works great, simple to use, and no pole marks in my SeaDek.

G23 OEM cover with the Hangtyte... Absolutely love it. I would only use poles over long storage periods, perhaps wintertime layup.

You just gotta ensure you choose the right point to install the Hangtyte, else you'll create a sag area where water will pool up.

I nailed it perfectly on this one. Very happy.Click image for larger version

I made this. One strap from left to right and one from front to back. Cost almost zero and I could pull from four places. Click image for larger version

NYRYAN- Did you feel comfortable cutting into the OEM fabric for the Hangtyte? Other than correct placement, was it pretty easy? If I remember correctly, the OEM cover is over $1k, so that would be a bummer if the hangtyte messed that up.

Any other suggestions for a non towing cover that would be good for a G23 under a canopy?

I bought the stainless steel eyebolt today....Still would like ideas for best item to put inside the cover between the fabric and the bolt. Maybe just a piece of wood like 2 x 2 inches????
