    2006 SV211 TE or 2007 SV211 LE

Having a hard time deciding between two boats to pull the trigger on.
    2006 SV211 Team Edition
    345 Hours
    2 Owner Boat
    Clean inside and out
asking $39,000 but think the boat will move between $36-37 K
    like the color better
    garage kept and covered
    Dual axel trailer

    2007 SV211 LE
    254 Hours
    2 owner boat
Clean inside, a couple scuffs on the hull but probably can be buffed out. A clear coat patch two inches under the nose on the bow, cheap job. About 3 inches by 2 inches.
Upgraded from the LE edition speaker system but nothing special, 2 speakers
Needs ballasts and Perfect passs. I will install myself so cost is about $3000 for 3 ballasts and PP. When added I don't believe gauges can be added to see fill levels like manufacture.
LE model does not have electric start. Instead has rocker switches for bilge lights blower etc.
    Garage kept and covered
    single axle trailer
asking $34,00 but will move between $30,000-$31,000
    color ok. Mostly just white

My dilemma is Team Edition on a year older boat with 100 more hours for more money or a base LE edition newer by a year with less hours that needs ballasts and PP added and lacks Team Edition upgrades and less money.

Thanks for for any input you have.

Considering we're talking about a 7 or 8 year old boat, either 250 or 350 hours would count as average to below average usage. I wouldn't place a dollar value on that little difference. It sounds like there is a fairly large difference in how well maintained the boats were, which as you near the 10 year old mark matters more than the hours.

After adding ballast, perfect pass, you'll be out 33-34k for the 07. I'd consider the tandem trailer to be worth at least $1k over a single axle. From what I've seen when buying my 210, there is typically a $3k+ increase in going from a base model with keyed ignition and switches, to a team edition with a keypad. I think the 06 team edition would be the better deal, especially if you prefer the colors.(since you are spending $35k, you might as well get a boat that you like)

I would probably go with the TE as well for reasons mentioned above.

I have an 06 211 TE. Make sure that the factory ballast is working properly. Mine quit emptying and it has been a pain in the butt to trouble shoot. Other than that my 211 has been a great boat. I love the wake for surfing and wake boarding. I miss my Supra comps wake for skiing, but it was worth the trade off for the better family boat. I would buy the 06 over the 07. Good luck and post pics

No question 06, provided things work as they should.

TE for sure. 100 hours is nothing but color cannot be changed and dual axel is always interesting.

The 06 sounds like a much better deal and seems like it was cared for better. I would probably go with the 06 but here are a few things that might make the 07 more attractive to you. If you are big into surfing and you are regular foot then the 07 will have the better port wave because it swings a LH prop whereas the 06 still spins a RH prop and therefore will have a better starboard wave.

06 was the last year of the aerator pumps and valves for ballast which was not the best design but certainly it's better than no ballast. It wasn't until 07 that they started using reversible impeller pumps. Also factory would be tanks whereas you'd have bags if you did your own system you'd have bags which don't rob storage when empty and the lack of tanks makes engine maintenance much easier.

The keypads are great, until they fail. As these boats get older and replacement keypads get harder to find it might be nice to know that your breaker switches and key can always be replaced cheaply and easily if any single component fails. But the keypad is a cool thing and I wouldn't let that sway my decision.

Like I said I'd probably go with the 06 that is ready to drop in the water and you can always upgrade the ballast later on if you want. Its in better shape, better trailer and it's the colors that you like.

I've got to buck the trend here, the 07 is the better deal.

The ballast systems in 05/06 were problematic so you will likely need to spend time/money repairing the ballast system anyway. I would take some of the savings and apply it to a nice system that uses bags in the rear corners. I have heard that you cannot install the belly tank in a 211 aftermarket but I don't see why you couldn't? You would need to remove the gas tank to get it into place but I think it may be possible, maybe. If not I am sure you could install a belly bag instead of a belly tank. In truth I don't look at my gauges that often. The way my ballast is setup it spits out the side when it's full (when filling), and stops spitting out of the sides when it is fully empty (when emptying). I guess I do use the belly gauge frequently because I typically only fill that tank to 3/4 full because the wake is better at that level. With heavier ballast in the rear corners you would probably run the belly full.

Installing perfect pass on a 07 should be fairly easy, I believe that is a drive by wire boat so it's fairly easy and cheaper than a cable driven throttle.

The damages/patches are a deterrent but the value of the LE seems better as long as you are capable of doing the aftermarket ballast and perfect pass yourself.

I also believe the 06 to 07 difference includes a different prop rotation and that is probably the biggest deciding factor if you plan to surf behind it. If I am correct the 06 will surf better on the goofy side, the 07 will surf better on the regular side. It's possible to overcome, we surf my 05 on the regular side all the time, just requires a little more weight.

The single axle trailer would be an issue to me too but not necessarily a deal killer. Upgrade to a nice new tandem at some point in the future or trade somebody that has a tough garage situation that needs a single.

The 2006 TE is located in Jacksonville, FL. Most boating is done on the St Johns River which flows up from Orlando and dumps into the Atlantic. Concern with boats here is that the boat sees salt or brackish water. I asked if the TE had ever seen salt water and his response was "boat was in the river south of Jacksonville, very low salt content". Give me a lot of pause and feel I should keep looking. He said he always washed it after every use, whatever that means.

Get pictures of the motor mounts, v drive unit, and other low mount metal components. If there is anything more than slight oxidation I would pass.

I agree with the above and would also want some good pics of the trailer. If it's not a galvanized trailer then the salt/brackish really takes a toll on them.
