2014 Super Air Nautique 230 w/ NSS - Surf Wave Video

Hey Everyone. I know there are lots of threads and debates on which boats/brands have the best surf waves. I demoed Malibus, Mastercrafts, and Nautiques. I decided to make the switch from a 2011 Mastercraft x-25 to a 2014 SAN230 w/ NSS last month. The biggest problem in all my research beforehand was that I couldn't find any "unaltered" videos of the surf wave for the 2014 models. Here is a video from this weekend on our boat. The surf wave is flat out HUGE and super easy to dial in. This is with the the pro ballast system and 8 people in the boat. I would recommend this boat hands down as the best 23 ft surf boat. I considered wave quality, ease of use, and resale value with this purchase. No regrets and am more impressed with the quality of this boat every time we take it out. More videos to come!

Ya, it's huge! All ballasts were full and we had a 700 pound fat sack added on the floor in the middle/rear of the boat. The great part about the 230 is that the wave never maxes out or gets white-washed with additional added weight... the more weight.. the closer you are to the ocean Speed was around 10.8.

Yea we looked at the G23 as well. It is just too big of a boat for the lake we live on. Also, 90% of the time we are surfing or just hanging out on the boat. Not a big wakeboard family. I was told by the factory that for pure surfing capability (And i experienced this in my demos) that the 230 puts out the best wave in the Nautique line. Supposedly when they had all the pro riders down in Orlando demo the boats and vote on their favorite one to surf after the demo day, the SAN230 won 100% of the votes. I love the G23 but for what we use the boat for and the size of our lake.. the 230 was the easy choice.

Congrats on your 230 awesome boat. A few items that haven't been brought up yet.

                1. wear a life vest, no reason not too, it could you know save your life, if the board hit you in the head and knocked you out.
                2. say no to vertical video, hold the phone sideways with video.
                3. when your in the back of the wave and need to catch back up, try flapping like a seagull, it will help you generate power and speed.
                4. try to surf in a area that isn't getting rollers from other boats or windy, looks like there were some waves.

Other then that surf as much as you can an get to learn the flyboy it's a great board and will def help you progress.

Good points on the life vest and sideways video! Do you have a flyboy? I have a hard time with with that board with both sets of fins on it. When i removed the big ones it was pretty squirly and it seemed to be the best with just the 2 big fins and removing the smaller tracking fins. I think it's meant to have both sets of fins on there but it's tough to ride for everyone with that setup.

Wave looks great! I do the same thing with fat sacs! I'm thinking of taking the 400s out and putting 750s in there so I don't have to throw 700 in floor, I'll letcha know how it works!! I feel like the 230 has best surf wake as well!

Sweet boat Garrett! Ya it's much better now than I was hoping after getting it all dialed in. Let me know how it is with those 750's! We live on the lake so we dont really need the storage in the lockers. I think upgrading to 750s back there is a great idea...

def get the 750 in the back corner on top of the stock it will help your surf wave. I have all the flyboys, and this year actually added a 4'6" Super Bomb pop from The Walker Porject that's a 6'er and I only ride the 2 big fins and the tracking fins as a twinzer set up. Sound like you guys are just getting the hang of finding the pocket, so the flyboy is a bit squirley to ride and tends to buck newer surfers off. It's one of those boards that wants just 2 quick pumps to get back, always best to follow along James season at http://flyboywakesurf.com/ some good pointers over there.

I will post some videos and board review on my 2014 stick in a week or so once I get some video of me riding it.Click image for larger version

So question are you guys adding weight in the bow as well ? I have a 2010 230 and I pulled out the hard tanks. Put in 1100 pound soft bags in the back lockers. Also added a 500 pound piggy back in the ski locker which is 400 or something stock. Still trying to get the surf wave dialed. I have 2 400 pound bags that I haven't used to put on the seat or floor if needed. Trying to find out what the best setup is that people have found ??? Getting a NSS setup in the next month as well.
