Upholstery turning Pink

Point me in the right direction if this has been covered.

Left the boat out with a BLACK cover in hot sun for a few days. When I removed the cover the upholstery (white)where the cover was touching turned a pinkish color.

It was resolved with boat uncovered out in the sun for a day. Whats happening

ditto; a purplish pink. Mine happened a few weeks ago and did not completely go away. I'm trying to remember if there is some cleaner I put on it, but its only happening on the back deck vinyl

Maybe some sort of mildew? just a thought. If there was moisture under the black cover, and it sat in the hot sun, that's what comes to mind.

Pink discoloration to vinyl in hot and humid environments (which under a cover can create) can be linked to a mold that grows in the vinyl. Difficult to remove as it is not growing on the surface but often within the vinyl or under the vinyl in the backing. But I was able to resolve mine using H2O2 cleaners. It slowly fades over a few months after cleaning. Has been associated with certain vinyl sources and for some years was considered a warranty issue.

This happens to me everyday, it's mildew. I live in extremely hot and humid conditions and overnight with cover on ALL vinyls touching the cover only turns reddish pink. Cannot be cleaned. Only remedy is leave cover off in sunshine and it disappears, however it is a trade off with sun damaging exposed vinyl versus mold due to boat cover. I hope nautique R&D look into this problem and maybe impregnate foam with anti fungal product in future. My boat is only 2 years old and each day I have to remove cover early eve and close up mid morning, it's so real pita. Pl help nautique

Will laying white towels on the seats where the vinyl is in contact with the cover help? I do this for winter storage in Texas and have never had an issue.

I heard about this on TMC and I swear I thought it was related to the heat from the black cover versus the moisture. My boat has always been outside every year I owned it. I had it 3 years in WI and it was outside all summer, this never happened. I moved to SC where it is about 20 degrees hotter on average and low and behold the problem started cropping up. At least to me the problem seems to be related to heat instead of moisture - but I would love to know the real answer. The general consensus on that forum was also to leave it out on the sun, but every time I leave it in the sun, I leave the gel exposed and if a rain storm sweeps by...

I have seen this happen on many brands of boats, but they all seemed to use more of a cloth material for the cover. Has anyone had this happen on the newer sunbrella covers?
My guess is either moisture/heat creates mildew, or a chemical reaction from the water repellent in the cover and the vinyl.

I'm seeing this with my new to me 1997. Aft seat top, black sunbrella cover that's about 4 years old. Trigger seems to be heat, not moisture.

I use sunbrella and mildew is BAD. Naut should research impregnating fabric with anti fungal agent for guys in hot climrs

I am having this happen on some new skins I got under warranty directly from Nautique, a couple years ago. It has nothing to do with the cover touching for me as it doesn't touch this part at all. And frankly in Minnesota in my boat lift with cover never put on when wet, it has not been overly humid or wet.

Frankly, I am extremely disappointed. The first set of vinyl lasted 5 years the replacement vinyl lasts 2. Thanks Nautique.

They have told me its a result of the heat generated under the BLACK cover. I guessing that its something else based on your experience.
