Ok - more surf setting questions

Guys - sorry for all the posts here - I'm a newbie to nautique and a beginner surfer. Most of the ( great) posts around surf setup include more than factory ballast and set ncrs 5 and NSS 0-2. I only have factory ballast - and my question - do I use same settings? I'm struggling to get the right "push" and am not sure if it's technique/inexperience or a setting thing? So - looking for max push settings with factory ballast.... Same?

I think wave is good. Had a friend come over and help a bit - had me slow down to 10.5 and the wave was great. Starting to understand what people mean by steep.

I have a 2014 g23 with factory ballast. found best setting for me at Ncrs 4 and nss 2 - although still not entirely clear on what I'm looking for. I know nss 0 is most protruded but does that mean steep? And ncrs adjusts wave length? Messing with it I couldn't find a ton of huge difference.

Just a rookie - I'll get it squared away!

Leave it to the factory surf setting its the best setup. You can go with more ballast but I don't, i had that in my 09 Malibu and I just don't feel the need to mess with it in this great boat! I am 215 lbs and run factory setup and settings. Don't mess with ncrs and only mess with nss if you want to lengthen the wave. The pic of your wave looks pretty stretched out. The speed for me to ride is 10.9, but yes the slower you go the steeper the wave, the faster you go its gets longer.

Yes some of it is likely technique so just get out and ride and you'll get used to your setup. Also a large portion will be the size board you are riding and how aggressive it is. My inland surfer swallow tail is for aggressive riding and technique has to be perfect. My "cruising" boat is a CWB land something or other (the long yellow board with fake wood look on bottom) and I can just stand on that thing for hours without loosing the push.

NSS at "0" should be the most mellow wave, 5 would be the steepest.

I thought nss 0 was most extended, which means steepest wave. No?

I always thought 5 was most wake diversion hence the steepest wave. It is what I have seen in experience.

Drive the boat with factory ballast with no one surfing and change the NSS through each setting. Look at wave and pick which one you like best. That is what I did. Leave NCRS at 5.

I just went surfing on weekend and was quite happy with NSS at 5, NCRS at 5 and 11.3 mph. Full gas tank as well. Wave was long and steep.

I have added listed boat a bit before as well and was quite happy with that wave. It was even bigger.

There seems to be some confusion on this topic as I asked the same question a couple of weeks ago and got different answers. I assumed that having the NSS at 5 meant that the surf plate was extended all the way out. The manual didnt really clear it up for me when I looked at it again.

I guess at the end of the day you just need to test each setting out and see which one you want. It is a nice problem to have in my opinion!

Honestly I just hit the surf button and jump in so I'm not sure whether NSS is 5 or 0. The factory setting is for a steeper wave though.

"0" is furthest out. This creates the most delay of convergence of water off of the hull and sides. Since the plate extends opposite to the side you are surfing the water (wave) is allowed to travel further towards the opposite (non surf) side, creating a flatter more "rampy" wave. This makes sense in my head... I think.
