    What Would You Do?

So I ran into a scenario last weekend on the lake and I'm wondering how most people would react. The premise is I pull into our "party cove" area of the lake (early in the day, maybe 3 other boats there) and a guy swims up and says:

"Hey man, my buddy and I were wondering if you would take us out wakeboarding?"

Typically, when I meet people on the lake they introduce themselves and chat about the boat, etc. This was literally the first words this guy said to me. I've never seen or met him before. The question here is, what would you do? Would you:

    a. Say "Yeah, no problem, hop on!"
    b. Say "Nice to meet you too" and maybe feel this person out and then decide.
    c. Say "Not a chance in **** buddy".
    d. Say "No, I just anchored. Sorry bro!" (Play it off in a nice way)

It would be one thing if things happened naturally and y'all hung for a while, shot the crap and it led into riding. But to just swim right over and assume that's acceptable, I would not want that person on my boat and would not trust them.

Had this happen the other day. We were surfing on a small lake. Come by the beach where the rider falls. Couple kids on the beach start running out saying they want a turn. Before I could tell them to go swim, my buddy's wife was yelling at them. Something like "we don't know you, get lost, freak..." Lol.

                I would have said $100/pull

Glad to heard I'm not crazy. If the guy would have at least come up chat/hang out for a while and then asked if he could board that would have been a different story. People never cease to amaze me out on the lake.

I agree with Joe. However, I've met people and swapped riders to see how different boats perform but only after some time to get to know them. One of my crew was on my boat and was the only one to drive it.

I agree. I've towed plenty of friendly people once I got to know them and, like you say, "chat/hang out...". But, if the first words out of their mouth are to ask for a ride/tow, I would come up with a polite excuse and refuse. No reason to be rude back - life's to short and you never know how/when, and under what circumstances, you might see them again.

For me, it would depend on how the rest of the conversation went. I was once on the other side of this situation. Had just purchased a house on a lake and was in between boats. A guy in a Prostar would ski by my house every evening, and I was going crazy for a pull. I flagged him down from my dock with my Goode and rope in hand. When he pulled up, I explained my situation, and offered fuel and cold ones in return for a pull. He agreed, and we ended up friends to this day.

If someone asked me for a pull right out of the gate, I'd feel them out first. I think intuition would tell you who you're dealing with? If they had their own quality gear, offered something in return, and spoke the language of the sport (ie: what ZO setting do you prefer?), I'd give a pull. If someone came up and said basically, "I want to try that", I'd pass.

D.... But at about half as nice guy as you imply.

I don't respond too well to folks assuming they are my priority.... Friends and family for sure, not so much strangers, especially when they act like that.

Rude and callous of them to run up on you like that. Same as strangers walking up on you and asking: " wow nice boat how much does it cost?"

my reply: "oh, under $40k, call Wilson Watersports, they pretty much give them away."
