so if I offer I don't expect the obligatory $20 for gas. Enjoy the pull.
Which is it? $40 or $80? That's either using ~10gals or 20 gals a hr? Also if your just pulling the average dude looking for a pull I assume your not adding 1000'e over stock so usage shouldn't be that high?

A loaded set(7.1miles) with about 5 falls behind my 210 is pretty consistently 3.5gals.

Reason I ask is because assuming I get lucky enough for a pull behind a G I want to know how much to offer!

I have a friend who went out on another friend's day-yacht for the day. He handed the owner a $20 after the boat was refueled, to which he replied, "No thanks, it's my treat today". He felt sheepish as the marine attendant handed over the gas bill of over $4,000! Not exactly a comparison to this thread, but kind of funny

It ranges depending on activity, number of folks on board, and depending on the amount of ballast.... Figure 2900-3400 RPMs you burn 8-12gph range.... 3400-4200rpms 14-18gph or more.

most of the time I surf we are 33-3500rpms. $60-$80 and hour range.... Perhaps a little more.

93 OCT is 3.60 at the gas station... $4.70 on the water here

I don't charge folks for a pull. If they want to toss me some money that's fine but I don't expect it.

I've got to agree with this. If i invite someone on the boat, then it is my bill. If someone asks.....then I would appreciate if they threw me a bone....but then agwin, I did t have to say yes.

While I always feel funny about it at first, I do expect to be paid for gas with the exception being people that I know will never become regulars. Those are my treat.

But the regulars all pay $5 each turn for my 2008 210...Kind of wondering if that is too little based on below. What do other 210 owners burn?

"A loaded set(7.1miles) with about 5 falls behind my 210 is pretty consistently 3.5gals." That sounds like a pretty long run, but that would be like $12....

I like the $5 number though...It is enough to say hey it costs a fair amount to run this thing, but not so much as to say I am trying to make money off you...plus, i guess, it makes that point that although i can afford a boat and most of my riders can't, it is still a privilege not a gift to ride. I think in general we all want to pay our own way, and i think most people that pay me feel good about making the payment. They want to feel like they did not take advantage of me, even though they realize I can afford it.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned is the liability factor if someone you don't know gets injured behind your boat. I typically offer most people who are fairly cool a pull, but have been questioning it a bit since my insurance agent brought up the potential liability issue. My boat is in an LLC so I am fairly insulated but I have dialed the offers down a bit (although I tend to still pull most people who ask) since I had that conversation. Just another thing to think about.

                      Easy.."Sorry bro, I don't pull people I don't even know. Sorry."
Now, I'm a pretty flexible guy but I couldn't just take some dudes out for a session that I just met. I mean thats kinda rude on his part so I wouldn't feel bad saying no.
Now then, after some time BS'n and whatnot, I might invite them out to meet up the next morning for our normal morning session. if they turn out to be good dudes.
And liability is a big deal, you never know if someone is sue happy. Ive had new people get slightly hurt before, luckily they never escalated it. Ive got insurance out the azz so if someone gets seriously hurt I'm gonna take care of them, but I'd rather it not be some dudes I don't even know.....
