    Coversports cover on 2003 SANTE

I wanted to give a BIG shout out to Brent Fleming at Coversports for building my cover. I read every thread I could about his covers before ordering, as well as talked with him via phone and email. I only had one instance where correspondence was not returned and that is because the email link was incorrect. All other emails were promptly returned within the next day as well as phone messages I left for him. He took time to answer all my questions over the phone before I ever ordered, and followup questions via email the next day. There were a few items I had in mind to customize from his normal covers, but he explained why they would or wouldn't work.

From the date of order (April 16) to the day it arrived (June 17) was 1 day shy of 9 weeks. He originally told me 5-6 weeks, but I wasn't in too big a rush as long as it got here by this week for a trip I will be taking this weekend. I followed up with Brent 4 weeks after ordering to check on progress and he said he was running a bit behind. He apologized for the delay and offered to me free of charge to upgrade the clips that connect the rope at the tower legs to metal instead of his normal plastic ($30 up charge normally) and "Ferrari" vinyl on the bow area which evidently is some discontinued high-grade marine vinyl he has sitting back (no idea on what it cost), and that it would ship out by June 6. I received and email with tracking info June 8.

I had it installed within an hour. I will wait to trim the straps to length for a bit once the fabric has time to stretch some. The only real issue I can speak of is lack of installation instructions, but I read threads with other owners who detailed their install and that helped very much. I do have questions about exactly where 2 straps go as I may have them wrong, and I want to advise Brent of one small change he may think about in future covers. Other than that I'm pleased.

Brent is a stand-up guy with stellar product. I read plenty of poor reviews about many points I have hit on here as well as many positive reviews. I just wanted to share my great experience with him and his company to put at ease some others that may be looking for a Coversports cover. You can buy with confidence!!!

Now onto the important part... PICS!!!

That looks great! I am curious what your upgrade ideas where? I just acquired a Rankin cover (Brett bought the patterns from Rankin when they folded so same idea) and I was thinking of adding a HangTight or something to prevent water from pooling. But after a big thunderstorm rolled through last night I was delighted to see that there was zero pooling this morning. I got some pooling the first time it rained but I don't think I had everything strapped down tight enough.

What did you connect the outside transom straps to, the platform brackets? I am not sure it's correct but I have been putting those straps to the lift rings along with the ones next to it.

And one OT question, did you paint or stain your platform? It goes well with the all black boat.

Yes I went to the platform brackets because that seemed like where they needed to go, but it was difficult to get the webbing down past the platform. I sent an email the Brent this morning asking it they needed to go to the lift rings but haven't heard back yet. I also asked if it was possible to add one of the small buckles to the center strap as it is difficult to remove once cinched down.

I used Minwax "Ebony" stain and didn't wipe it off. Just would brush on a coat and allow it to dry/soak in before adding another coat. Did 3 coats in all. This is the second time I've done the stain. I don't really prefer the brown team look and usually just let the sun fade the wood out to grey, but in this case black works well.

I pretty much had the exact same experience. It took Brent longer to get me the cover than initially promised but he was very good at following up to questions via email or phone. The end result is outstanding. So would highly recommend just don't plan to get it quickly.

Just to update after this past weekend using the cover... It worked great!!! I ended up taking the 2 outermost rear straps to eh lifting rings which was much easier and held the cover just as well as if going to the platform brackets. The cover kept my boat completely dry during a 20 minute downpour Friday afternoon as well. Every bit of the water ran off the cover accept for 3 small places where the water set in place at a flatter part. The were just beaded up waiting to slide off and did when there was enough angle to do so. I'm really impressed with this cover and will be putting it to good use again this weekend an Wake The World Alabama.

for those that have used the Coversports covers, how long does it usually take to remove and/or put on the cover?

I'd say it takes me between 5-10 minutes, but could be done quicker I guess. I just don't really get in a hurry. The first install takes some time to get all the rub rail hooks and straps positioned right for the cover to fit well. Once that is done though it really isn't that difficult or time consuming.
