New to me 1979 Ski Nautique

Well guys, new to the forum. Was a previous TT poster. But now that both my father (had an '08 X-Star, upgraded to a G23) and myself (first boat 1979 Ski Nautique) are Nautique owners, I thought it was appropriate to join up. Now that I'm officially a boat owner, I'll definetly be hitting you guys up for some advice in the future.

Glad to finally have a boat of my own! Came across it on Craigslist that a local dealer was advertising at a steal and just couldn't pass it up.

Engine's running great, starts after two pumps. But this last weekend I burnt up the clutch packing and am having a new transmission put in this week to the tune of $1k, Ughhh. Hopefully this is that last major issue I have. (fingers crossed)

Had to replace the dash switches for bildge, blower and lights. That was a bit of a debacle, but the guys at Nautiqueparts.com are life savers!

Plan on putting a stereo in before the end of the summer and functionally it'll be good to go.

There are a few things here and there that I'm going to make winter projects for this year:

-Ski pylon eye was sheered of somehow, so i'll need to replace that as well as tightening the pylon to the hull.

-May replace the auto-bildge, as I have to operate it by hand to have the float kick on the bildge. Either the float doesn't work properly or I never let it get high enough to actually kick on.
-Oil pressure gauge and right speedo are not working (hopefully the pickup is just clogged for the speedo, not sure I got all the junk out when I made my first attempt to clear it out)
-All the vinyl will have to be replaced as it has outlived it's shelf life.

But for it's age, I really can't complain. It's going to be a great starter boat for me, and I'll make sure I take great care of her for future prospective buyers.

I look forward to corresponding with everyone. But hopefully I'll be to busy on the water.

Sweet! I had a 79 Ski Nautique before my current 03. It was a great boat. Send me a PM with your email and I'll give you mine. You can email with any questions. I did a lot of work to the boat over the years I owned it and it NEVER had any issues.

Did I talk to you on the phone the other day about Gator Grip? I had the 89 SN2001 for sale.

Welcome to the board and good luck with the 79!

          Don't think that was me.

I appreciate it. I have to replace the shaft seal this weekend. And hopefully I can get the tunes working.

Then there is someone else re-doing I think he said a Ski Tique in your area.

The shaft seal isnt hard. I used the goretex rope from Ski dim for the "almost dripless" seal. No issues with the install or since.

I awaiting this to be delivered this weekend. Not sure if it runs and needs a trans rebuild. Needs new carpet, vinyl needs to be redone and speedos rebuild.

Wow, you guys will have twins! Those pre-2001 Ski Nautiques are beautiful boats. Good luck with them.

Is this boat in Orlando area? It looks very familiar.

It was originally from the Orlando area. Bought from a shop in Longwood. Now relocated to SC.
