    White boat cover ?

I am going to order a boat cover soon and was thinking about what color to get. My boat is black and white, and i know black is a popular color for a cover, and would look good, but black is hot and traps and a soakes up a lot of heat. Has anyone tried a light colored cover, like sunbrellas natural, which looks like a shade of white? I'm thinking it would keep the interior a lot cooler, but is there anything I'm not thinking about? Like keeping it half way clean.

    Thanks,
    Bryan

You are very right about the black getting hotter, but I think the white will be a nightmare to keep clean. How about charcoal/tweed? I believe that is what mine is and it goes great with my black and tan boat and it doesn't seem to get very hot.

If storing outside, that black would be hot. I bought a Light Grey (Not sure exactly the name of the color). Looks good, keeps cooler than black and hides dirt better than white would.

I would not get a light colored cover no matter what... That thing will always look dirty. Go with a Charcoal tweed if anything.... My .02

Malibu is having issues with the black covers. After a few years for some reason the black covers cause the upholstery to turn pinkish because of the heat build up.
They no longer ship with black covers instead they are using a light grey, that may look good on your B/W.

Sorry not the best picture it's the only one i had. I always thought it looked good being grey and it was ten years old. Only used outside on friday and saturdays the rest of the time it was stored inside.

My new boats cover is black and it gets hot. I think white would tough to keep clean

Thanks guys, just the info i was looking for. Sounds like a light gray is a good compromise between keeping cool and keeping it clean (looking).
Hudd210te, thanks for the pic, that's pretty much my boat.

I spoke to my canvas shop a while back about a light colored cover. They said that the darker the color the longer the fabric will last. They couldn't tell me why but said if you look at the same age sunbrella the light colored ones will be degrade before the darker colors.
