Boat cover, extra loader allowance, do I need or want it?

I was going to order a cover today and I am stumped by the 'Extra Loader Allowance' option.

My boat is kept in the garage on a Ramlin trailer almost all of the time. I'm purchasing a new cover for trailering and those occasions when I leave the boat in the watter for the day, between a sunrise run and a sunset run.

While I think I need the Extra Loader Allowance on the cover, the extra cost isn't an issue, I'm worried if the cover will stay on and keep the rain out when the boat is at the dock. Also wondering if the loader allowance has any effect on trailering, ie long trips?

    Any advice is appriciated,
    Thanks,
    Bryan

The cover your talking about is a trailer cover, so if you put it on at the dock it will just be laying ont top and not tied down. A good gust of wind will sureley uncover sections of the boat. The trailer covers are usally attached to the trailer. As far as the loader allowance, its works great when being trailered as it covers the bow stop as well. If you dont have a bow stop then you would not want to have the loader allowance. If you do have a bow stop and don't get the loader allowance you will have to put the cover on the bow before it is pulled against the bow stop. Hope that helps.

You could use the trailer cover at the dock (specially since you don't plan on using it often), you'd just have to MacGyver some weights to hold it down. I've used plastic water bottles filled with lake water with some bungees or strings to attach them. Worked pretty well.

What kind of cover are you looking at? Most trailerable covers aren't very good mooring covers and vice versa. The CoverSports Covers are amazing trailerable covers and still pretty good mooring covers. They will take a little longer to put on than a typical mooring cover but they will keep the rain out and stay on without needing to tie anything down like is needed for some trailerable covers.
