I need to remove my combing pads on my '99 Pro Air in order to replace the speakers. Anyone done this? I've poked around a little but didn't see any obvious fasteners, clips, etc. Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

You shouldn't have to remove the pads to get to the speakers. They should be screwed in from the back into the pvc rings.
I have a 99 Sport and I replaced the speakers several years ago and that's all I had to do.
Once you remove the speakers you can then take the screw out that holds in the mounting rings to replace the felt speaker covers.
I have not removed my combing pads but they are basically bolted to the gunnels from the back side.

I believe 1999 coming pads are bolted. There is a bolt, that goes through the backing, to the outside of the boat. that goes througha hole in the gunnel. Then a fender washer, and a 1/4 nut. If the boat was made right, thay put some silicone seal (RTV) on the bolt and nut to prevent vibration from loosening the nut.

That is how my 99 Sport is done.
