you are correct, the g series does surf well. you are also correct that depending on who you ask the 210 and 230 does outsurf its g counterparts. with over 100 hours surfed behind the g23, i prefer the 230 to surf. with about 10 hours behind the g 21, i prefer the 210 to surf. they are all great boats and surf very well. for me the 210 is my pick for surfing because we surf 90% of the time and wakeskate the other 10. the g boats are an amazing wakeboard boat, this is what they are designed to do. in my experience the 210 wave is the most customizable surf wave in the industry. the g is good, but a little on the steep side past 0 setting on the nss therefore not being as surfer freindly in some core surfers opinions. you asked to compare the 08 210 to the 14 210. to be honest, there is no comparison. from ease of set up to the wave itself, the 14 210 is a different beast as far as surfing goes. this hull was built for surfing in mind unlike the 08.

Not sure of the NCRS and NSS settings but Tommy said that he usually fills both rear tanks full and little to no weight in the belly. If the dealer filled the belly this could be part of the problem. Tommy sets his speed around 10.8

Thanks for the input so far, I feel like the salesperson must have had something wrong with the set-up on the G21. The big thing I like about the G21 is the interior room and storage. If I find that the G21 is not capable of producing a better wake, then I think I am still on the hunt for a different manufacturers boat. I don't see anything else in the Nautique lineup that meets my storage requirements. As I said before, I really liked the 210, my next boat needs more storage for a full day on the water with 4 teens and take a bit more rough water. I am not sure If anyone has surfed the Mastercraft x10 with next gen surf Tabs, any opinion on how it stacks up against the 210?

Maybe look at the G23. My MC - owner pal (x25, another pal also has an x25 with the next gen tabs) was onboard during a G23 test ride and was super impressed by the surf wave. I thrust the guy to give an objective review and he has been exposed to a lot of boats and was also out with the other guy helping him dial in the next gen surf tabs on his '13 x25 that were retro-fit for him by his dealer. We surf behind my 210 and his x25 and he says the G23 surf wave was incredible.2010 Super Air Nautique 210 Team Edition

Have to say - as a new nautique owner (14 g23) and new surfer trying to find settings is a real pain and id expect nautique to to have more guidance. On this very forum there is confusion on nss 0 or 5, full ballast or just rear etc.
Having said that, I think at the end of the day there are so many variables out of the boats control (#of people, water depth, rider weight, board type) that it simply takes messing around to find right combo.
I have been very happy with g23 - had 17 (shhhhh) people on it over weekend (9 kids 10 and under) and we surfed and wake boarded a ton. Was crowded, but possible. Today is was just my family (wife and 3 boys) and it was like riding in a limo by yourself. This boat is probably more than I need performance wise but it's size, storage, ease of use, and great waves (surf and wb) make it a winner for us. Could probably gotten away with the 230 - but love the g.

I have been wanting to demo a G21 as well. What Mastercraft did you demo to compare it with? Currently have an X2, but looking at other options as well, if mine sells...

I am going to demo x10 today to see how it stacks up against the 210. The X10 has the new gen 2. One thing I will give to Nautique right off the get go is the integration of the NSS system. Lets face it who wants a large chunk of stainless protruding of the back of your boat while swimming. Looks a little dangerous for kids. I like the hard side cooler installed in the X10, not that I am going to buy an X10 because of the cooler. I am a fan of the Billet aluminium in the Mastercraft, this is due to the fact that I have watched mine aged very little over the last 7 years. Not sure about powder coated towers. I stiill want a excellent surf wave with the simplest setup. The X10 has the 5.7 liter Ilmore, I will write my thoughts on this boat later this afternoon. Still love the interior of the Nautique G21 Its got the room and the storage.

Me and the 10yr old looked over a x10 last week and honesty I hope it's better on the water than on the trailer. Wasn't a fan. Even my kid wasn't impressed. I think the 2014 210 has the x10 beat every which way.

Well we surfed the X 10 today. I must say the wave was very good. I would even go as far as to say better than the 210 we test drove on Friday. What was not good was the boats bow rise. Bimini top and boat boat engine noise. I also did not like the fact that the windshield and also the tower make you feel confined. I think they make a nice product but I will not be buying an X10. I will however be buying the G21( we figured out the problem). You see we went for that second test drive a couple hours after trying the X 10. We went trying to figure out the reason why the surf wake was not very good last Friday , and to try the suggested settings for the G21 that you all recommended. I had to laugh after doing a walk through going through the internal compartments of the G21 , I found the problem myself. The salesperson had left the ballast threw hull valves all in the closed position. I was so excited when I saw this a at the dealer that I said lets go out right away to confirm that indeed they had been left closed during the trial last Friday night. They had, not a single drop of water had flooded the ballast tanks although the computer had said it had. I fell in love with the wave almost instantaneously. The wave was quite long and seemed to me to be very comparable to that of the X10. This boat was set up stock so, I imagine the wave may possibly be even better with more ballast plumbed if you felt the need. No bow rise and just so simple and consistent. I am writing up the deal tomorrow I am sold. Thanks for all the help I will post a couple pics once it is in my possession.

Congratulations! I was having a hard time believing that there was that much difference in surf wake between the G21 and the 210 (with all due respect to surf purists). It was apparent that you liked everything else about the G, so I am happy for you that the surf wake came through for you. Not sure which engine you ended up with, but I bet the G21 with the 550 is a rocket ship.
