    SV 211 Weighting questions

The Correct Craft SV211 Team Edition is a boat that I'm looking more into right now. I am looking to see what you guys who ride these are doing for extra ballast. Obviously the rear trunks work well and there are bags made just for it, but are you doing an automated/hidden ballast system? If you are, how did you do it?

Up front, what are you putting up there for extra weight. I'm assuming the ski locker is a great place, but does that get enough weight up to the front? If not, what are you running in the locker and up front!?!

Any thoughts are great, pictures are even better.
    Thanks in advance.

    RE: SV 211 Weighting questions

    Dizzy,

Not really sure what you want to do, but I have been running my 211 with stock rear corner tanks full and belly tank at 3/4, pretty happy with the results. If you fill the belly with too much water it flattens out the wake too much. I have about 600lbs of lead in the garage but after some experimentation found that I prefer the wake with no additional weight. I usually have 5-6 people in the boat so that is a factor as well. I will add some pictures.

          RE: SV 211 Weighting questions

thanks for the info. Usually we ride with 3 or 4 most of the time, so I was thinking I'd probably want more ballast at some point. I just want to get the best I can out of it.

The wakeboard shots were taken with the boat running 23.5mph @75' out.

I have been quite impressed with the surf wake using the belly tank and one rear tank.

Other guys here and on wakeworld have said that clubmyke has it dialed in. I think he runs an additional 150lbs in each rear storage plus about the same in the bow?

                  Mike,

Where you at man? I would of expected you to chime in here....

I'll throw in my two cents.....

The best wakeboarding wake I have gotten is with all three tanks full, an extra 100lbs of lead in the very back of each rear locker and 70 lbs. of lead in the nose. I also have three 600lb. fatsacs and have experimented with them quite a bit but the difference in the wake isn't all that noticeable. What I think IS CRITICAL when weighting the 211 is getting the weight in the right location and right for the speed you ride at. I've had my boat (other 211's as well) heavilly loaded and still have a crumbling lip until you hit 21 mph riding between 70 and 80 feet off.

                  Mikeski,

Your wakesurf wake looks awesome! I was shocked to hear that was with just the port and belly tanks full. For comparison here's a pic of me on the same side as you but with 8 peeps in the boat and and extra fat sac on the port side.

                    Tyler,

You are goofy foot, ride on the other side of the wake, it's waaaay better on that side behind the 211 (and all Nautique's)! As a regular footer (left forward) I rode the starbord side of my wake last weekend just because it was sooo clean. There were a couple of MC guys on my boat that were extremely surprised how clean the wake was. You might also be going a little too slow. Move your crew to the side you ride, I ride a 9.5mph with the wakeplate set at 2. You can control the foam at the lip very well with the wakeplate. Be careful not to fill the vents with water when turning around to pick up your rider.

The 211 is kind of a funny boat, it throws a really nice little wake for beginners at 65' with empty ballast at 21mph in slalom mode. I have started to think in terms of unloading instead of loading. If you unload the bow it lets the wake peak more. For wakesurfing just unload the side opposite where you ride and make a slight turn toward the rider's side.

                    Mike

kinda been playing around with this for awhile...so has floyd as well(aka fatboy) and tyler...

too much weight really screws up the boat imo... i have had really good luck with a little more weight in back (65/35) vs the classic 60/40 split...

here are some successful combo's that have worked well (5 people on the boat) ..btw, i have to try mikeski's idea of letting out some of the belly tank ballast..

-8 bags of lead(320lb) in bow placed under the bow cushions all the way back
-1 bag of lead behind the driver seat
-1 500 lb ballast bag where removeable seat is..

-4 bags of lead(160 lb) in bow placed under the bow cushions all the way back
-1 bag of lead behind the driver seat
                      - 2 fat sacs in each locker about 200 lbs each (estimated)
                      - 2 bags of lead - 1 on each locker next to engine

-10 bags of lead (400 lb) in bow placed under the bow cushions all the way back
                      - 6 bags of lead -3 on each locker next to engine
                      - 2 fat sacs in each locker about 250 lbs each (estimated)
                      - 2 lead bags to move around

-4-5 bags of lead in bow placed under the bow cushions all the way back
                      - 6 bags of lead / 3 on each locker next to engine
                      - 2 lead bags to move around

the first and the last combo is very nice and consistant...

mikeski - your wake looks great for surf & wakeboarding..

when running the surf wake, are you running any additonal ballast besides the factory center & rear ????

Factory center -full, rear corner - rull/opposite - empty

All passengers toward the back on the side of the surfer, 9.3-10 mph depending on the number of boat passengers and weight of the surfer

We did that last weekend with Franz in the boat and like to have sunk it. hahaha

I have found that 500 pounds of lead added to the tanks makes the wakeboard wake stiff and vertical. I have 170 pounds in each rear locker on top of the tanks and all the way back. 160 pounds in the ski locker as close to the rear of the locker as possible, this totals 500 pounds of lead with the 730 pounds of ballast tanks. I tried weight in the bow but I found it did not do as good, the wake got a lot stiffer and more vertical when I moved it back to the ski locker.

Went surfing last night and had the lead as described above and the starboard tank full plus a 400 pound sack in the starboard locker. Then had the belly tank a little less than half full. Only had two people in the boat, my wife driving and my son on the back corner. I have also found the gate best set on 2. Also as soon as the driver gets to speed they jump up and sit on the side of the boat right behind the gate lever, you would be surprised how much difference that makes. Here are a couple of pictures from last night. Now you know why they call me FatBoy. hehehe
