    Boat Lifts

Any recommendations on good boat lifts? I own a 2001 Sport and will be storing it at a Marina in a cove. What should I expect to pay? I've seen some wide variances in price. What are some features I should be looking for? I don't really care if it is electric. If I buy one from the Marina they will install it for me. Should this be a big factor in my decision? How hard are they to install?

I would tell you to get a Hewitt. We have used them and have had no problems. We also work on a lot of older ones and they are in good shape. They can be hard to install if you are in very deep water and if you cant get it close to the water from your shoreline. I delivered one to a guy that told me it would be no problem...yeah right. He had a 100' drop at a 45 degree angle to his shoreline. I had to take it all apart, load it on a pontoon boat then reassemble it in the water...NO FUN. Once you crank it up a couple of times and then try the electric you will never go back. Just my 2 cents worth.

The inboards on our lake are on either Hewitt or Shore Station lifts. A lift is truly the only way to go. We use a Hewitt 3600 for our '98 SuperSport. We also have a canopy and DC electric motor. I echo midohionautique's comment on the electric lift and highly recommend it. Good luck with your decision.
