Love the holiday but wishing for a nice wakeboard friendly private lake. This year I'm going out early and getting off the water early. The year we stayed on the water to watch the fireworks; first a bottle rocket come across the bow and then a guy close to us started with the Roman candles. Who launches fireworks from their boat????

There used to be a guy on our lake that used to set them off from his pontoon. he thought he was sooo cool....i also plan to get on the early and off early.

The fireworks up by the dam at Lake Anna are fun to watch but it
a like a scene from Mad Max Beyond the Thunder Dome for the next hour after the fireworks are complete. Very dangerous coming back even if you wait it out a while.

Almost every year someone dies on Anna over the big weekends... Last year it was grandparents loosing their granddaughter. Gotta be safe and model/encourage safe responsible behavior. Kids will likely never take their life jackets off. Had a real close scare about a week ago where my 11yr old almost drown from entangling his leg in a strap on one of those water trampoline jungle gyms.

Not even going near my local lake for the 4th, we attempted to head down last year early (before 8am) with the PWCs for a quick run. The entire parking lot along with all the outside parking was already full. This year going to check out the local parade and head back home BBQ on the deck and probably enjoy some MLB. Hopefully hit the water early Sunday morning when everyone is headed home from their weekend.

Who launches fireworks from their boat????

I did ...once...took off in the dark when I was done -forgetting about the plywood on the bow that I had been launching from. At about 30mph the wind caught the plywood and as I fell unconscious to the floor I pondered a do-over. Luckily I came-to in time to explain to the wife how to shut down the motor before we hit terra firma.

lol, caught a break there ... yeah, no chance on heading out on friday. might get brave and try to get a few early AM sets on saturday, but even that is a crap shoot ...

Glad to be on one of those private lakes you spoke about. Even then, the lake is not much good for anything but cruising/hanging out during the day. We do watch the fireworks from the boat, but everyone is usully pretty cool and idles home after.

Headed out right now. I'll stay out on the lake but won't be boarding. Staying away from any fireworks on or near the boat!

Left the lake at 1:30 and there was a line of about 30 vehicles waiting to get into the park. It paid to get out early today

4th of July

It wasn't bad at all yesterday. The gas dock was insane . The dock hands know the weekenders and had a guy try to cut in front of me and the dock hand pushed his boat back off the dock and said go to the back of the line lol. Afterwords it was great other than the chop. Got off the lake at 6 pm
