As the title mentions this is probably a stupid question, but does anyone have issues with their vinyl seats getting ridiculous hot? And I am talking 1st degree burn hot! I have owned boats for 20 yrs all white vinyl and bought a 2000 SSN with cream/beige vinyl and have never seen anything but the surface of the sun getting this hot. My dog burned and blistered his paw pads on them a few weekends ago. Any one else have this issue or suggestions?

We live in TX and our white seats get really hot too. We keep a spray bottle in the cooler with ice water to spray on the seats.2013 G23 450 with NSS (175hrs) and still have the original prop

Ya might know a little something about it. GA doesn't have anything on the SW.
Here we are last summer cooking pizza on gray vinyl, roughly 115degs in Oklahoma.
Unbelievable how hot that vinyl gets, I'd estimate a true 160-180 surface temp, and that's a modest estimate. 1-2 seconds and your hand is screAming at you. I have white now, and it still gets crazy hot.
Hottest I've been out in is 118, in the shade. Vinyl and gel was insane.
Couple choices:
Keep it wet
Keep if shaded
Throw down towels. This is what we do.
The same properties that make the vinyl strong and durable are the same that allow it to get hot a retain heat. Prolly not the best idea to bring a dog out when it's that hot, you can't control where it goes.
Those rear aluminum step pads on the Gs, you see in the pic... Now those are a special blend of **** on earth hot on days over 90degs. They'll make you wish it was a vinyl burn.
Mastercraft has a denim type looking seat material.... It's awesome, retains almost NO heat, regardless of color.... Wish CC had something along these lines, but as durable as the regular stuff.2019 G23 450

I think the OP is trying to ask if there is something specific to the vinyl that Nautique uses. I will say our last boat was a SeaRay and we had it for 10 years. It was cream/blue vinyl. It never and got anywhere as hot as our white/gray Nautique. My family comments on it almost every time we go out.

Yeah my previous boat was a Sea Ray as well and the white vinyl never got nearly as hot as my Nautique. I wonder if there is any protective spray that can help? We do the towel thing, but that becomes a pain in the you know what. Especially on the sun pad. The spray bottle is a good idea but seams like a pain to spray everything before touching it.

I was finishing up a fluid change on the 4th a couple of years ago and it was really miserable putting the floor panel back in and straightening things up. I noticed my IR thermometer was nearby so I shot a temp of the floor and it was 167. This was just an average summer day in the mid 90's and standard grey carpet. I keep a couple of spray bottles around to cool things off when I need to, but we generally are out on weekday evenings and weekend mornings when there's not much need for them. In TX everything is uncomfortable and hot in the afternoon from late May to October.
