    50 Hour service cost

Can anyone give me a ballpark on what you're paying for a 50-hr service? Both at dealer or on-site (dock service) would be great.

My dealer just sent me a quote.. and I'd like to compare. It was a bit.. surprising.

$125-200 range. Add $50-$100 for service at your dock.

Remember shop labor rates vary from 80-$140/hr.... Plus parts and materials.

I am in your area and got a quote from the local dealer that was "surprising" as well. The guys on the site helped convince me to do it myself. I can't thank them enough. It saved me quite a few $$$. My direct drive was very easy to change fluids on. Not sure what boat you have though.

I pay $400 for my 01 SAN. $40 for oil and filter and I charge myself $360 in labor. I just feel I do better work if im getting paid more.

At 50 I just have them change the oil and filter, $86.

^I do like the idea of paying myself but don't want to make that collection call.

See biggator, these prices they are throwing out there aren't far off from the "surprising" dealer quote. LOL.

              Almost criminal.

I used to work as a mechanic at a Correct Craft dealer. Trust me, the deaers are not "rolling in the dough" and counting gold coins after your boat is serviced, or a new boat os sold. You have no idea of what it costs to run a business. Remember this is not a business witha steady year round income, but most business costs are. Rent on a property is the same in January, as July.

Most boat dealers go imto the business because thay loved boating, and skiing. Reality is, with a boat business, they rarely have time to do it anymore.

                  Daniel,

I completely understand however you don't know the number that biggator was quoted. I do. If you did, I think you would agree that it was ridiculous.

So big Gator, why do you only have 50 hours on that beautiful boat? You and lion90 sitting just sitting around?

That is a lot for an oil change. I probably can't pay myself $125 for doing my own. But might have to myself a couple beers.

$125 sound reasonable... $40 for oil, $10 for filter, then $75 for some gas and beer for the friend that comes to do it. Go out for a ski, then come back and drain/fill while drinking beer. Then go out for a surf after to test ride... sounds good to me.

Our boats are right next to each other.. so we rotate (not to mention a lot of other boats around) and spread the love. Also, last year was CRAZY rainy.

FWIW.. the price I was quoted was north of $1200. Yes.. with two zeros at the end. 50hr service on a G23.

I've been calling them to try to get this set up since I had about 35hrs on it (about 70 now).. but they weren't terribly responsive.

I LOVE my G23.. but I do miss my old dealership.
