1983 2001 ballast back L shape? fronty Wakemakers?!

    - so i actually did a search for this, got a few pages back before posting here.

83 2001- i followed a thread to Wakemakers found 2 750lbs w pump for under 400. Good customer svc folk.. seems to be the best deal, especially with the PN discount %.

I've read 300 lbs in the front?? as well, like sand or other blow up thing? Lots of conflicting information, configurations..

I just want a wake I can surf behind. Ideas?

For my 89 2001 we surf with 500lb sac centered in back with 2 400 lb sacs on surf side and 180lb of sand in bow. Here's a link to video of my wife surfing port side Wakesurfing behind Ski Nautique 2001: http://youtu.be/Yp45HDXAgjA

Great vid, super wake. I'm doing 2 fatsac 750s but I built boxes for them so I can move them without refilling.. slider discs ftw.

Still messing with the wake, placement, etc.. only about 100 in the front.. but just got the sand bags so tonight should be better.

One thing I'm finding.. wakesurf boards are mostly made by guys who don't ever/ have never surfed. I've ridden a handful at the lake here.. My 9'6" "third world exotics" quad fin long board is still the funnest thing around.. I ordered a firewire sweet potato the other day.. should check them out if you're looking for a real board that works in the water.

I bought a Liquid Force Chase Sixer.. I guess if I had a bigger wake or something but I've been surfing for 20 years, hit the skate park regularly...board just pushes water and makes things suck. I'd never buy another board made by a wakeboard company..ever. That is unless you're way into skimboarding, shove-its and goofy spin moves that do nothing to get you down the line. :P

Q- "centered in back against the back, in the middle, close to the engine? Where do you put the side bags? One in back side, on on front, together? I can kind of get there with the 2 bags I have and the sand.. Should be interesting to figure it out.

I moved the back seat forward and built a box for the 500 lb sac and I lay the 2 400 lb sacs on the surf side of the boat filling the floor space from front seat to back seat to distribute weight the length of the boat. The rub rail is almost under water this way so extra caution needs to be taken while driving it is very easy to take a roller over the bow or surf side. Speed needs to be around 10 mph.

This is how I have the side sacs. With 2 750 lbers I would start by trying one in the back corner surf side laying the width of the boat and the other sac on the surf side of the engine or maybe just forward laying the length of the boat. You might have to spend a day playing with different configurations of your sacs and speed to get it dialed but it should be doable. If you don't have too many people on the boat you could also remove the back seat to have more space to work with until you get the set up figured out.

great pics, thanks. I built a box for the back, was going to build a thinner version for the side so I could use sliders to move and adjust midflight. i bot a firewire sweet potato, 5'4". For the wake I'm throwing, the 9'6" quad pin longboard is still the funnest to ride. The "wakesurfer" chase sixer is just too "pro" for my boat..and it needs more foam, more tail V and nose rocker...so basically needs to be a different board all together. is this a bad time to try to talk up the board here and sell it? $350+shipping if anyone wants it. Paypal ;D

i'll cloud some vids from today.. windy, crowded weekend lake but we may be able to run a flat corner here or there. check out http://www.firewiresurfboards.com/su...d=sweet_potato 35L at 5'4" was thinking going down to 5'2" but opted for more foam than less. ;D

                update-
                * added 1 750 in the back, 1 400 in the front, so 3 x 750 + 400 total.

                >>really makes a nice wave.. been spirimenting with fore/aft location for the side bags but wow + boom. my buds real nice malibu 07 makes a slightly better wave but at 10x the cost.

the chase sixer finally lit up- decent running board. i'd still like more foam and some v in the tail but just starting to break the fins free on some of the more radical maneuvers.

the firewire, sweet potato 5'4"-- just a sickfuntime..lays it's fat belly all over the wub and lubs it. lub teh wub. i'd highly suggest looking into them for surfing behind a boat. firewire has other shapes including a baked potato and potatonator.. which I'm starting to covet. they don't offer a discount yet but mention me and they might (wink).

one of the best times still to be had is on long board.. real long board. so much workable face with a board that size. if you like to surf larry, the boat wake will make you merry...for reals. id go epoxy for all real surf boards-- the PU just don't have the protect, get fdup real quick like.

Ok, getting gopro out this weekend. vids of pure, unadulterated awesomeness to follow.
