I agree we are crazy. I've said it many times on here . All my boats were paid for before the 2012 we bought. Put 40k down but had to finance some. I think a 100k plus for a wake boat is insane . Jmo

      Work hard, play hard.

You've only got to be able to justify the purchase to yourself, I couldnt give a rats if other people think im crazy. I've got a strict policy which is cash for toys the only thing ill finance is a house.

I think we are crazy. But I think - lately - that everyone is a little crazy. Maybe just in slightly different ways. A few variations. For me it is great to have something recreational to do that is also a challenge, physically.

I am ok with like $60k. Although they do last a long time. So maybe it makes sense. I agree with not financing, at least for myself. It is somewhat intuitive to say "cash for toys". On the other hand if you can afford the payment go for it. You only go around once. For that matter even if you can't afford the payment, go for it. So the bank get's it back and someone else buys it. That is the bank's problem. Although don't think our government should bail out banks, making into someone else's problem.

I would love a g21. But don't really need one. But I would get one if I could get a great deal. Just don't think there are any great deals on them yet.

I personally just like to see myself get a little better wake boarding and snowboarding each year. I do it probably 60% for satisfaction of getting better, and 40% for the social aspect, to hang with the crew.

        Wakeboard April-Sept. Snowboard Dec-March.

This year first's so far for me: 360's on trampoline, 180's on wakeboard, backflip on trampoline, tantrum attempt(s) on wakeboard and getting all the way around, just need to postpone the edge change, raley attempt(s) on wakeboard, ripped the binding right off the board. Gotta work on grab's...Did em last year but timing sucks this year...

Well said Scott! I agree pretty crazy on the prices! I can't see it being maintained myself. I've a got a theory that the housing market really helped a lot of people start all this expensive toy buying. Was a whole lotta refinance for cash and home equity loan going on that got it going. People are still kinda moving around that cash and value but I can't see it lasting. My .02

I don't feel crazy when I am surfing behind my G23. It actually does the opposite, it keeps me sane. I forget about all my stress and am just in the moment. Nothing better than early morning glass water with your bros.

The only time I feel crazy is when I get stir crazy watching my boat sit in the garage all winter!

This is a great post. Crazy sure. But everyone does their thing, weather a 10K boat or 200K boat. The time and money I spend on boating is less $ then I send on doing other things that aren't with Friend and family.

Buy what you want, it's your money.... You earned it. (hopefully)

I never thought I would say this, but this weekend the wife and I decided to start looking for a boat to go out in the sound it. 28'+ with twin screws. Used of course....

The 210 might get traded on a 200DD with a tower

Yes, i kind of agree with above. But be reminded the context of the thread was really about the pricing of the boats. You can speak for yourself, but I think I could enjoy "early morning glass water with MY bros." without a super expensive boat.

Of course you don't need an expensive boat to enjoy the water. That was not my point. No offence meant. My apologies for taking the thread off topic.

What I was trying to say is that I don't really think we are crazy for having boats. It is something we love so we pay money to do it. Some cost more, some less, but they all cost money. How much you want to spend is up to you.

Should they cost as much as they do? Probably not but there is market for them cuz they are selling.

I guess where I was coming from as well is I get a lot of people razzing me about having a boat. Questioning my sanity on spending so much on a boat. Most of the time I could care less. But every once in a while I feel like, "Darn right I have a nice boat. I went to school for forever, work 70+ hrs a week, and if I want to spend $$ on a boat I am doing it and I am not crazy!"

I will get off my soapbox now. Lol.

I/O boats are not looking too bad right now. Good Value for the less than rich.

Which I/O would you buy that puts out a decent wake with hidden ballast for a lot less?

The majority of people who buy a boat are more or less weekend warriors. Buy a boat use it a few times, the new wears off and then they begin to freak out about payments, lose their tail on the sale and then swear to never do that again. Or they come across costly repairs and again sell and swear they will never do that again. I always find it funny how there is a double standard if you are a water sports fanatic like the majority of people on here. I bought my boat to wakeboard....and I try to wakeboard A LOT. Everyone told me don't buy a boat you will never use it and you will lose a ton of money... you know what B.O.A.T stands for...sick of that one. So by using it and wakeboarding with my bro's and now my son, all I hear is "you are always on that boat, is that all you think about"? "You should spend more time doing this or that and quit spending so much time on the lake". You will always have people shaking their heads at you for owning a boat weather you use it all the time or rarely. For the life of me I can't figure out why that is.

What I tell people is .. It is how we spend our family time. I would rather be on the lake watching my kid swim ski tube or dig holes on the beach than sit in front of the tv or some game console.

Is my boat a little out of my price range .. Short answer yes. It cost more than my truck. Actually more than any vehicle I have ever owned but to me it's 100 percent worth it. From friendships to making the good memories and sun burns to bent props.

In 2004 I installed a new pool, in 2005 I bought a new boat, were right about $50k. Ten years later I moved and just installed another new pool at a cost of about $90k plus decking. A new boat is about the same cost. Interesting how these items track each other pretty close in price.

I admittedly haven't read all the responses, but this one is dead nuts on. So much so that I sent it to my dad and told him "sorry for all the bent/broken props but thank you for passing on the love of the water."
