What is the SAN G 21's best engine choice. I know this is a broad question, but I would like to hear some recommendations by others on the best engine choice for this boat. I personally have a brand-new G 21 with a 550 hp, we surf 90% of the time and 10% we wakeboard. I love the G 21 it's a great boat. With Stock ballast and few extra friends the Surfwave is very good. One of the reasons we chose the 550 for the G 21 was because our dealer said that it performs the best for surfing and it didn't pull the boat to one side when driving due to the fact that the prop size is smaller than the 17 inch on the 409. I am told this pull is much more prominent with the 17inch prop?
My question is has anybody experienced the 2:1 transmission on the 409? is anybody finding that this boat does indeed pull hard to one side when driving it? I've been told that there is a possibility I may have to put 300 or 400 pounds in the opposite ballast bag in the stern of the boat to compensate?
With my 550,I do notice a slight bit of pull to one side when I'm driving.I just weight the boat with passengers to compensate on the opposing side.
Could somebody with a new G 21 with the 409 2:1, give some comments on how it performs and how they feel their fuel consumption is when they are surfing the boat? just general overall thoughts on performance. Thank you
