    Feedback while motor running

I have a 2013 G23 and installed the LYNX Sirius radio dock last year to get the satellite radio on the boat as well as in my wife's car.

Last year we ran it into the AUX input and had good sound quality, but over the winter had a WetSounds Bluetooth put in so that we could play our friends music when they came out with us.

We found out that we never use the Bluetooth and the sound quality is better with the Sirius straight into the AUX input. More importantly, we now get a huge feedback from the engine through all of the speakers which worsens as you accelerate.

I am not well versed in audio systems and our boat obviously has the Clarion unit. Any ideas on where the feedback could be from?

Is there anyone in the NC area that I could talk to? The local car audio shop seems more clueless than me.

    Thanks for any advice.

You might need an isolator on the power system for the radio.

Being that it happened after the WS BT receiver, I'd email WS. I have asked questions on a Sunday and have received an answer from Tim White promptly. He's awesome very personable and smart.

Besides the sound issue, how do you like the function of the BT receiver, I've been considering one for some time?

The BT works OK and is super easy to setup.

However, we lost a good bit of sound quality with the BT and lost even more in terms of decibels.

Wasn't loud enough to hear at 75 feet.

        wow, no kidding.
I would definitely email them and tell them the issues.
I know that when I run my iphone though the WS420 I'm at 3/4 volume on the phone as a "pre-amp" basically. I'm betting the regular "signal" through the BT just isn't enough....Interesting. Thanks

where and how did you tap in for power for the WS BT?

if you tap into power for an accessory like that, at a location different from the rest of the audio gear, you can open yourself up for a ground loop.

            Nyryan,

Thanks. I emailed wetsounds and they called me back in about an hour with 3 recommendations.

            1. Check the settings on the Sirius receiver. We have the Lynx which is supposed to be super cool with wifi,Bluetooth, pause, rewind, etc. But Wetsounds said that some BT devices default to a lower volume when paired. If that's true our fix would be the settings of the receiver.

            2. Connect the Sirius to the aux input and disconnect the power to the BT.

            3. Pair another BT device and check it out.

I'm then going to email the results back to wetsounds so they know the fix.

You will see me post the results here.

            Hopefully on Friday.

            Thanks for your help.

              EXCELLENT point NYRyan!

Looking forward to hearing your results after your trials.
I'm always impressed with the response time from Wetsounds.

                unclaum-

so ensure that ALL of your audio gear powered and grounded from the same location. if you tapped into a cigarette lighter or USB to power your BT module from a different location that your amps, WS420, and head unit, that could be your problem right there.

Also... small chance, but something to rule out is to ensure the recall / service bulletin on the audio aux input section there inside your driver's side dash glovebox has been done. 2013s first came out with audio cables being grounded out on the inside of that metal plate in that driver's side glove box... on the back side of the plate.... fix was as simple as inserting a plastic shim so that RCAs on the backside of those Red, White and Yellow female lugs were not all touching the metal plate grounding themseleves out.

                  So the results are in.

The bluetooth works great and has excellent sound quality.

HOWEVER, when you pair the satellite radio the Wetsounds bluetooth pairs at about 1/3-1/4 max volume. You then have to make sure the Sirius receiver is maxed out and then also turn up the dial on the Wetsounds BT. After these adjustments, Ryan 1776 PROBLEM SOLVED.

Nyryan, the audio is all coming from the same power source and I appreciate your note about the recall. I will check the ground when I get back in the boat next week. We're heading out of town.

Bad news, since our volume has been so low, I did not notice until today that our subwoofer (Polk factory unit) is rattling pretty bad at about 20 on the volume. What do you guys feel about replacing that subwoofer with original equipment vs. another manufacturer? Or is there a chance I can take it out and find a way to fix the rattling?

Do you think the driver is in need of a gasket or speaker caulk?

The rest of the audio issues are now great. Easy fix. I feel like an idiot.
