Looking at a 2008 SANTE 220 School Me

So a little background I am coming off a 2000 XStar I have logged 1200 hours on. I run about 3k in it. I ride 80ft 24.5mph Love the boat, handling, and wake, but I am I need of some space and in search of bit better surf wake on the goofy side. My wife and 2 young daughters all ride so am looking for a wake that can clean up around 17-20mph. I know that's next to impossible except from one other mfg, but clean around 20mph when empty and not a huge wall would be nice. Thinking the hydrogate may help. So here I am at the 220 I am just not sure if an 07up SANTE is enough of a space upgrade.

We don't do much lounging. It's more hit the water for Watersports and then back to the lift to lounge at the dock. So i really think the 220 seating is for us. This and the 226 are the only boats in the line up I have never had a chance to ride or surf. I am confident it won't disappoint my wakeboard needs, but skeptical on the kiddos and wife. They need a wake to progress on. As you can tell from my old boat with the hours we use it and plan on keeping the next one the same amount of time.

Found an 08 220TE close by.
    220hrs
    Zr6
    team package
    swivel racks
    bimini
    3port heater
    bow filler
    Polk Momo speakers
    Polk sub
    4 Natique Tower speakers
    snap cover

exterior is an 8 out of 10 Has a scum line some compunding will easily get rid of and one small scratch I can easily had fixed. The decals are kind of peeling from the underside out meaning the chromex outlines are fading on some of the letters. Not sure if this is normal, but you can only tell close up. Trailer is the problem It's sitting on either a 230 or 226 trailer so that's gotta go. Not sure what kind of market there is. Trailer is in great shape. Interior is 9 out of 10 Vinyl is mint it just needs the cracks n crevasses cleaned real good. Most of buttons on stereo remote and electronic ignition are fading off.

Thoughts on the Zr6 vs the standard engine for maintainance? I do all my own on my current boat. Oil, plugs , wires, sensors, winterizations. Any harder?

Was thinking 43 would be fair offer. I will get to drive it late next week. Looking for some input before hand. In full disclosure the X15 is the competitor to the 220 I have my eye on for reference.
    Thanks a ton. Fire away

I can't say to much on the 220, I have a 07 236 (exact same as a 230) with the zr6 and winterizing is easier, mine has closed cooling as well as the 220 should be as well. I drain all the water out of the v drive, trans cooler, water logs, and make sure the heat exchanger is drained and then fill with antifreeze..

No need to worry about a busted block. The only pain in the butt part about closed cooling that no one ever says if your impeller gets cooked the engine never over heats bad, the temp will rise above normal but never got super hot and it never spiked.

I heard a squeaking sound coming from the engine while messing with ballast bags and checked the temp gauge and had to lemp it back to the dock (100yard trip).

Welcome to the site. I have quite a bit of experience in a 205V and 220 and the 220 will be a HUGE step up space and storage wise from your X-Star. The extra beam, length and freeboard makes a big difference. The surf wave is very good on the port side. The starboard side is fighting the prop rotation but I have no doubt it will still be very good on that side as well but it might take a little more weight.

With no or minimal weight you can probably get a clean wake in the 17-20 MPH range but you should judge that for yourself during a test ride.
