    Another useful gauge

The bezel on my oil gauge is broken and my last glue job failed. The gauge keeps falling into the dash. I tried to order one and apparently the gauges for a 2006 Nautique 206 are no longer available. Since there is an oil pressure readout on the tach, I am lookng to fill the oil gauge hole with something else. Does anyone have any sugestions?

You could send the gauge into faria for repair.

Did not think of getting it repaired. The plastic is broken, so it is not an electronic repair. I'll call and see what they say.

I decided to send the gauge to Faria for repair. I did not think that they would handle it because the housing was pretty busted up, but I guess that they are going to repair it.

My problem now is that, after I removed the oil gauge, none of the other gauges are working anymore. Does anyone know if that happens when you remove one? I checked the breakers and they look good; although there was not one marked for gauges. Are there other breakers behind the dash?

I would check your grounding. On my boat the grounds are all strung together serially and if you remove a gauge you still need the grounds to connect.
Note my boat is not a nautique (ducking).

I believe the data from the engine is converted to a type of data that is sent on one cable, to all the gauges. All the gauges are daisy chained together. The gauge just picks off the data it needs, and displays that, and passes through the data to the next gauge.
one of the gauges in your dash has to be the first in line, and if that was the oil pressure, just disconnecting it would disconnect all the outer gauges. The tachometer, and speedometer may also be a part of this chain.

Try changing the cables in the gauges that are still there, and make the last gauge in the daisy chain the oil pressure gauge.

The gauge from Faria is already on its way back, but thanks.

So, very interesting. The gauges are daisy chained.

Anyway, Faria fixed the bezel and housing on the old gauge and we are back in order. Thanks for the help. This is a great forum.
