    Tinted Windshields

    Looking for pros and cons on tinted windshields. Interested in a Nautique with a tinted windshield.

    Pro = looks awesome
    Con = can't see through it, especially at night

    If you ride high on your seat and don't look through the windshield anyway, then it is no big deal. If you sit lower, it can be bad and even dangerous. I had dark tint on my 99 air. Looked bad ***. I do not have it on my 2000 San, and though t would look bad ***, I have no plans to add it.

      Bought my boat with it and I hate it. Can't see through it etc. Trying to figure out a way to take it off without messing anything up.

        ^^ Be carefull with yout tint removal... razor blades and razor knifes can and will scratch and mark your marine glass bigtime. Its is NOT the same grade as auto glass... and marine glass is much softer. sideways scraping with a razor blade is ok. Direct perpendicular slicing and cuts will 100% scratch and etch into the glass each and every time. Best way is to remove the windshield altogether, and go slowly, heat gun, perhaps over winter... You were warned!

        With that said I love it. Dont go too dark, 30% or less is perfect. 2 of my wakeboats have been tinted. reduces glare, and dash area is much cooler. Limo tint would be bad. < 30% is fine even with my sunglasses on. Correct, at night you cant see... but who sits in their chair anyhow driving at night? Everyone stands or is propped up on the bolster looking over the windshield anyhow.

          Mine is tinted and I see great through it. It's nice during the sunny afternoons. It took a little to get used to it but I'm very satisfied

          I do agree that night driving is out of the question.

          My windshield was removed to tint it

            My 96 super sport that I just got came with tint. I hated it at first because it was hard to see as well as I wanted. Now its starting to grow on me, especially after a few early morning and late afternoon sets

              I have 20% tint on mine. You get used to it. Just flip the seat bolster up at night. No problem.

                I tried tinting mine but the driver's side glass was bowed out kind of creating a fish eye effect... and the tint could not be installed without bubbling... the port side went on just fine so the tint guy had to remove all of it... was kind of bummed but I definitely like to see clearly through the glass...

                  That's when you look for a different installer. It takes properly directed heat at the right level to make it conform. Most boats are harder to do than cars for sure.
