    TSC2 Interior Configuration

One of the major SN 196 changes from 2001 to 2002 was the shift in interior configuration and the addition of the rear storage/trunk mini-sundeck.

I've heard mixed reviews on preference. Some say the new storage design is nice because you can grab a ski from the rear platform, your wife has a (small) space to lay out in the sun, and more storage is always better. However, others don't like it because it's more to crawl over, stuff gets crammed on top of more stuff in the single space, and it gets rid of the nice rounded rear end look of the TSC1 boats in favor of a more square look.

It seems to me that since the boat length didn't change, the rear seat position must have shifted forward a bit? Does that make the rest of the interior feel more cramped? I'm weighing the pros and cons of TSC1 vs TSC2 from a comfort standpoint only. Clearly the ski wake and boat handling are great on both. Thanks for comments on your experiences with the two.

Depends on what you want out of the boat. I have a 1998 and wouldn't trade it for anything but a 200.
I take the back seat out, which provides so much room behind the engine. It's the perfect boat for 3 people to slalom.
Skis go behind the driver. I like not having a lot to crawl over to get to platform.
I originally wanted a SN with the rear storage trunk. So glad I didn't find one and went with the 98.

I was never a huge fan of the trunks in my 196's. The bubble back configuration, IMO, is more user friendly. I did use the trunk, because it was there, but it's a pain to climb over.

I really like the trunk for storage of light weight items, (vests, noodles, ropes, jackets and so forth) and its not a big deal to climb over.
