2006 SV211 - Remover rear hard tanks or just add piggyback upgrade on top?????

Just bought an sv211 this summer. Deciding if I should remover factory rear ballast tanks or just add the wakemakers piggyback sacs on top of tanks? Any advice is appreciated. Wakemakers tells me I can fit a 400lb on port side and at least a 600lb on drivers side over the hard tanks. Is this an easy install and do the piggyback systems work well? Is there any real advantage to leaving the hardtanks in? Has anyone removed the hard tanks on the sv211 and if so do the sacs and hardware I purchase from wakemakers connect and still use all the factory pumps just the same? Also, I assume removing the hard tanks does not harm the boat in any way. Thanks

Well, when I first started with my SV, I bought 2 750 bags and just filled them on top of the hard tanks. I mostly surfed regular, so would put one sac under the walk-thru, and one bag under the passenger seat, which would give an ok wave with just my 3 girls in the boat.

Then I tank busted and hosed the 750s in, and got another 750 (why buy small when it will just fill up the space?) to put under the port seat. I would jump straight to tank busting based on doing it. It is a bit of a pain to get the tanks out (hint, take all the fittings off the top hoses and remove the battery box on the port side) but re-hosing with the wakemakers kit is easy. Then, when we aren't surfing, we have a HUGE amount of storage. I have my tanks in the attic just in case someone wants them when I sell, but I would never go back.

Next up is the bow (saw your other post on this), which I would probably do piggy-back, as I don't see an easy way to get rid of the hard tank, and you won't gain much storage space by doing it.

Then finish the big NSS experiment and I have a mini G21 that I can slalom behind!

Thanks dfoster, appreciate the info! I don't plan to tackle the project until spring so I have some time but am heavily leaning towards removing factory rear tanks. I may just buy bow filler cushion and place sac on top of seats in bow for the time being when surfing....
