I just did the same thing on my boat last night. I'm looking forward to using it, but wanted to give a public thank you to Chris for taking my call and answering a few questions about applying the form. One thing I wouldn't have been prepared for is that the Great Stuff foam doesn't stick well to the underside of the cooler compartment---I applied it in rows and it was still easy for the material to slide off the side. I scuffed the sides with 100 grit, but I don't know that it helped much. If you're going to scuff the sides, you might as well use 60 grit (which I didn't have on hand)

Another question I had was with respect to how thick to apply the foam as there are potential clearance issues where the cooler container fits in a depression in the gas tank. I bought the red can of Great Stuff that is meant to fill gaps up to 1" and tried to keep the thickness of the foam to 1" But, given the difficulty I had applying a uniform coating because of poor adhesion, it was clear to me I got it too thick in most areas. I took Chris' suggestion (also mentioned in another post above) of reinstalling the floor while the foam was soft. The outer shell was hard, but the overall consistency was like firm jello--the floor dropped into place without a problem.

My wife and teenage son helped lift the floor in and out of the boat. It could be done with two people, but I has happy we had three. If you try to do it alone, I'm guessing you'll damage something.

One last bit: I bought the cans at Home Depot for $4.25 each vs. $15 on Amazon.

I simply measured the gas tank area and then used a serrated knife to trim back the insulation that was too wide/big. If you're to put this stuff on and shove it in, I would put something over the gas tank in case you ever need to pull the floor out again (it might stick together), or wait a while for it to firm up/skin over but not solidify. Great suggestion, so happy I did it!

I never checked my boat when I got it. Are the 2018 G23 insulated yet? Seems silly if they are not insulating that compartment yet. I really don't feel like taking that floor out during the summer. maybe once it is out of the water and off the lift.

I am pretty sure if you stick your head into the floor hatch where the ballast pumps are, you can see up to the cooler. Unless they totally glassed it in, I suspect you should be able to tell if it is insulated.

Just noticed the in-floor cooler on the 2020 G series (G23 and G25) is a different cooler. Looks like it's a Yeti Type cooler. From what I've been told, the space it fits in hasn't changed from previous model years. Does anyone know what kind of cooler the new 2020 boat has?
