    Spray while surfing port side

I am getting a terrible amount of spray on the port side while surfing. My wife and I surf starboard so no issues there but both of my kids surf port side. The spray hits them right in the face so it is a miserable ride for them and they typically give up quickly. Adults can tolerate the spray but it still is frustrating to watch them get pelted in the face with spray. The boat is a 2005 226 Team, I am using a 750lbs sack in the port locker and the belly tank full. Acme 1846 prop (I live in Denver). The spay is less with more people in the boat but it is still there. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

try some ballast up in the bow, my guess is you're riding stern low and could stand a bit more weight up front. This at least will lengthen the pocket and maybe they can ride further back from the stern. I think that's a RH prop (turns clockwise when viewed from behind) and could be contributing to the spray on port side (?).

HS, yes it is a Reverse Rotation prop so I do understand that the port side will always be challenged. I will try some more weight in the bow and I will let you know. Thx

Def try some weight in the bow. I am a goofy footed rider. So on the newer boats with the different prop rotation this is the cure for the goofy side rooster. I can only assume it will work your way as well because with your prop rotation the port side is essentially the "goofy side "

I also have a 226. The boat likes weight in the bow. We put the passengers in the bow. They like the view and not smelling exhaust. The surfer likes the nice long pocket. Also try adjusting speed. Depending on your prop 1/2 mph makes a big difference. For us, 9 1/2 mph is the speed for stbd surfer, 10 1/2 mph for port.

I put an extra 350lbs in the bow and so far no change. I will probably have to wait until next season to tweak it some more as I will not have enough time to mess with it this season.

Not yet but I am planning to add FAE by next season, I assume my problem will only get worse?

WE have a couple options on this.

                  1. NEW KIDS that can surf the other side.
                  2. If you decide to keep existing kids teach them the other side.
                  3. NEW BOAT with NSS of course
                  4. If wife says NO to the NEW boat, new wife!!!!
                  5. OR more weight in the bow as others have said.

This was a common issue on the 226 with that hull. Also I want to see the mount of FAE on that boat, which I think had dual exhausts, right!!

I'm not so sure about that one, seems like most of the time new wife means NO boat.

Card, That is awesome!! Although I am partial to the existing wife and kids I did suggest to the kids that they try to learn the goofy side. They are young (8 and 11) so they should be able to learn quickly.

Yes, the 226 is dual exhaust. I will get you a picture when it is done.
