    2000 snob

I will be looking at and test driving a 2000 SNOB this Sunday. Roughly 800 hours. I know the radio and tach do not work. The rest of the boat looks beautiful and very well maintained. I will be primarily using it as a ski boat like it was intended for, however most my skiing is free riding and not much chasing buoys. I am just wondering will it have enough room for 4-5 people for a afternoon on the lake. Also what is a good price to get this boat for, $14K?

    Thank you

Perhaps you know this but that model year it's typical for the gauges to have issues requiring replacement, with that the hour meter may or may not reflect the true hours. If it has a factory installed perfect pass you could see what the hour meter reads there as a comparison.

If it is clean and has a GT-40 or Apex 14k is not a bad price IMO.

If skiing from the pylon boat will seat 3 + 1 or 2 more up in the bow. Downside of having people up in the bow is your visibility will most likely be impaired. If pulling anything other then serious slalom, get a pylon extension which will bring the rope up and allow passengers to also sit in the back seat while pulling.

    Good Luck

Thanks Quinner. Yes, I researched and found out about the gauge issue, is that a fairly cheap and straight fix? Also the hour meter was explained to me by the owner, he also told me about the gauge problem. No perfect pass and it does have a GT-40. He is asking $17K, I want to pay $14K, is that out of line for that year boat? Thanks for the good ideal about the pylon extension.

For a clean 2000, $17k isn't an out-of-line asking price, but you should be able to deal. If you want to actually use the open bow, I think you'll be disappointed as it's just a "sandbox". The boat for skiing, however, is awesome.

The gauge swap is easy and relatively cheap. Go to nautiqueparts.com for it, and don't forget your PN discount!
