    cooler for '09 230?????

There was an old thread about this but I don't think there was ever a clear answer. Are there any GOOD coolers that fit in the space under the seat? Igloo changed the dimensions of their 48 qt marine cooler and even that one no longer fits.

I replaced the igloo in my 07 with a soft sided AO cooler. I believe it's the 48pk model, it takes up the space very good an ice will last about 3 days as long as no one leaves it unzipped. I've been very happy with it in my boat

This is what I did for our '08, fits great and holds WAY more than the Igloo hard cooler. I picked one up @ West Marine when they had a sale or coupon. They don't stock a lot of colors, but I was able to compare it's size to the original Igloo.

I think I actually bought my AO because of you lol, I've loved it ever since purchasing it and when it's zipped an buckled with it being full it still keeps it's square shape to an extent.

Only time I was some what disappointed with it is when I went wheeling with my jeep but I took out my carpet an insulation in the trunk. The floor got wicked hot an melted my ice fast but that was understandable.

I also use the AO and it works really well. I probably will be upgrading to the new Yeti Bag cooler but it is very pricey. One thing I did that seems to be working really well is I used expanding spray insulation and coated the rear built in cooler with insulation. I also added a small gasket to the lid. It will keep ice for the better part of a day now. Before it wouldn't make it to noon.

          Good Luck!

@SSTexan, so, you insulated the rear cooler (the one accessed from the platform) with spray foam? I've been thinking about doing something to help that one. Did you just open the hatch and spray the foam on it? If yes, I've been WAY over-thinking this project!

Not a 230, but I imagine it was similar to this : http://www.planetnautique.com/vb3/sh...ler+insulation

Nukemustang: The 230 has a removable igloo cooler From the factory. The link you provided is a built in (as in molded in to part of the boat deck) cooler.

i will echo the AO coolers recommendation but apply it differently:

                  1) remove the grate for the cooler under the starboard seat. use the former cooler spot for peoples bags and with the grate removed, the seat doesnt need to be lifted. no one has to be interrupted when people need to grab their bags. this leaves the space under the observer seat dedicated for storage.
                  2) place the 48q AO cooler next driver but fore of the reversible/removable rear facing bench. the bag stays out of the way, and the driver can shift it by hand from port to starboard to port to balance the wake way faster than d!cking with ballast. the driver has access to all the ice cold yoohoo he needs.

                  enjoy.

I haven't seen a 230 up close, but from the above it sounder like there was/is a built in one in the stern. My bad

                      Nuke,
Don't worry about it! Your post/link was great, I've been thinking about doing it to the stern "cooler" on a 230, it's much smaller than the one on your 211, but the concept is the same...

                        cooler for '09 230?????

The 48 AO cooler works great and can hold a little more. You can get the 2014 230 soft cooler as well it fits in the 2009 230 location just fine. Here is a picture of what it looks like in the following picture. Click image for larger version
