    Thinking about a 1992 excell

First time posting wanting to get some feed back on the 92 excell this boat has the 351 closed bow no tower original owner very we'll taken care of been on a lift most of its life new interior also had engine rebuilt. I have a inboard outboard 23' now but I'd like to know would it be a difference in the wakes. We normally hydrofoil when we go out. Also if anyone knows the integrity of the stringers on this year and model. Thanks for advance any help would be great.

Definitely a wood stringer system in that boat, you will want to inspect thoroughly as replacing is a really big job. Hopefully Don TXFoilhead replies as he has an Excel and primarily foils. Definitely drive it as handling should be much better then your I/O.

The wake at 25 mph would be nice tall wake. I used to have a 1991 Barefoot Nautique with a 454. Years ago I used the 1991 BFN for foiling too. The v-drive would be good for everything. It would make a nice boat.

If you mostly foil the. It's hard to beat, busts through everything, we never back off the throttle for other boats. I like the wake with a foil, I've ridden behind things that are a huge improvement but they cost considerably more, use way more gas and don't ride any better. If that's what you want then you can't go wrong.

I like the SAN wake a touch better with a foil, but no way is it enough to make up for the ride. If I wanted something bigger I think that I would have to move to a 230 to find a wake I liked with an acceptable ride.

Thanks for your advice I decided to keep my original boat and to wait to buy a newer nautique just cause of the closed bow. We generally have a lot of riders when we go out.
